According to this, you don't:

AlsoLaunch=

Command=""F:\Pinball\VPinballLoader.exe" "[ROMFILE]" "[WORKINGPATH]""

LaunchBefore=F:\xpadder\Xpadder.exe PinMAME1 PinMAME2 /M

LaunchAfter=F:\xpadder\Xpadder.exe Default1 Default2 /M

However, I set it that way, and while it does exit with one keypress, the confirmation still briefly shows, as well as the flash through the desktop. (I made sure to enable 'hide OS', but that doesn't change the behavior.)

I'm not rotating the game at all. My monitor is in horizontal orientation, and MAME is in default display mode, which means all games are displayed horizontally. Vertical games are not set to fill the screen, so there are spaces on each side of the image, for which as I was under the impression the 'bezel' is for. Yes?

For VP - go into the advanced emulator setup and make sure that Show Desktop is set to No, save the change and let me know if this resolves for you.

As for the Mame Bezel issue - check under \gameex\media\bezelv2 - you should see two files; bezel.lay and mame.png. Please confirm you have these files in this location. Under Advance Mame settings, please confirm that Use Bezel is set to Use Bezel for Vertical Games. Let me know if you had to make any changes and, if so, whether or not the issue is resolved.

VP needs Show Desktop set to True to work properly. I'm not seeing what the issue is here with a split second of the desktop, especially since mine doesn't show anything except the VPinball exit window and that disappears in a micro second anyways. VPLoader hides the desktop after I exit too.

I did not know that (I have yet to install and run VPinball since my reimage and had just been installing it prior to it so never got to that level of fine tuning and invoking the loader. If it is just a split second, that isn't bad. There are quite a few emus that will give a flicker of the desktop regardless of whether or not hide OS is enabled. Not much really that can be done as the FE regains focus from the closing application.

I just found this out. Hide Desktop makes the table not show (though VPMAME still shows).

Closemul works great for closing VP without quit confirmation with other emus. Also, other emus I've used don't flip back to the desktop when exiting a VP table, so I can only guess it's something with GameEx. On the flipside....I'm not seeing any 'exit screen' from VPLoader unless VPauto is also in the loop - so it goes: quit confirmation, desktop, VPLoader exit splash, then GameEx.

Something new that's weird. I have a U360 in my CP. In the GameEx input settings, I have 'enable gamepad/joystick' set to "DON'T initialise and use Joystick". Yet when I exit GameEx, the stick is reset to analog or mouse mode (starts in 4-way). I know this because if the stick isn't dead center, it pulls my mouse down.

Guess that's why VP requires Show Desktop to be set to true. :D

Yes and no. Any emulator running with show desktop set to true runs some risk of displaying the desktop for a split second when it returns to GameEx, you know since it's, uh . . . showing the desktop. This may be one of those situations in which GameEx can only do so much to accommodate the emulator, before the emulator itself must change to accommodate the frontend. Kind of a catch-22.

On the other hand, perhaps someone can write some sort of whiz bang script to circumvent the above behavior, since we're already deep in 'work-around' territory.

Right, I was confirming that, because I tried it before I read that post.

In Mala, there's 'show task bar' (and it is global only). The benefit of this seems that it doesn't interfere with emulators if set to 'no'.

On that note, I would definitely streamline the entries in the wizard to simply what the parameter is ('show...', versus 'show/hide...'), and the value being 'yes/no'.

Are you having problems with the task bar showing, the desktop, or both when exiting VPinball? I have been very patient thus far, and, probably to my undoing, have entertained trying to address additional "issues" you have raised within this thread. This front-end is not MaLa. Since GameEx is designed to work as a plug-in to Windows Media Center, as a stand-alone HTPC solution for those running it on machines that do not have WMC, and as a cabinet front-end, there is a lot more code involved to accommodate those scenarios and different emulator combinations. It is not going to be "one size fits all" as there are too many variables at play with hardware, OS and driver variances.

I have jumped through hoops and have helped to resolve some of your initial issues, whether it was directly with advice or gathering the facts from you so that Tom could see the issue more clearly and make some fixes that he could fit in within his build cycle. I have asked others to take a breath and focus on the issues you presented instead of your approach.

That said, in this thread and posts in others, I have seen your "humor" expressed. Humor is meant to be funny and not used for a backhand swipe at someone. even Monty Python does not come across as mean spirited. You come across as if your only joy in life is to haughtily nit-pick on minutiae and brow beat those that disagree. At this point, I give up! The others may help you if they desire, but until I see some sincere changes in the approach you take with the admins, mods and users within this forum, my support is withdrawn.

I cant tolerate the attitude anymore eiher. Please go play with another front end. Draco has my full backing.

And mine! I've kept my mouth shut for too long. LOL.

I really hate to see anyone go, but I'm with these guys. I may have to take this attitude at work, but I certainly don't expect it from my friends.

Just want to remind everyone in the forum that although this happens from time to time, it doesn't mean it's OK to take free shots at the person in question. Dropping ourselves to their level is never a good idea, and I think everyone did an amazing job trying to overlook the aggressive attitude. Let's remain civil and just close this one out as a lost member. My apologies to se_lees, but GameEx obviously isn't the right front-end for you. Just to add, people with your attitude make me not want to visit a lot of emulation forums and stick close to here, and I'll be damned if this forum gets derailed because of one member. Good day to you, sir.
