EmuFanSince1998 Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I paid for GameEx and an Emumovies subscription. I've gotten all of the artwork and snaps (.png and .avi) I can, but there are still some games missing snaps. In some cases, it's because the rom and snap file names aren't identical. Ok, I can fix that. In other cases, snaps don't exist at emumovies (download service and FTP). So, what's the easiest way for me to fix this? Pay $37 for FRAPS and then use another program to compress the files? That doesn't seem worth it to me. Use the create snaps feature in GameEx? Well, that won't let me make snaps for specific games, only ALL of the games in that rom folder, and only at a pre-determined time interval, which, more than likely, won't give me what I want. I tried it once and got lots of useless snaps. Is the next best option to try to make all the snaps within the emulators themselves?
bkenobi Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I've never used the feature, but I believe the GameEx create snaps tool will only generate missing snaps. There are a few threads that I've read in the past that discuss this functionality, so if no one else pops in to offer conclusive advice, perhaps a search will help.
Adultery Posted May 23, 2011 Posted May 23, 2011 I use it and yeah. Take an afternoon out and use the Create Snaps feature. Instead of setting it to certain intervals, I use the Press ESC To Create Snaps option. Wrks pretty good.And as mentioned, it only creates snaps for games that have none.

I think it's the next to last option above 'create videos'.I just tried it, and it gave me a bunch of black screens for snaps. Some had visible graphics, but most were completely black. Why, I have no idea. I also tried "create videos", but I had no idea how to get that to work. Nothing told me how to start or end videos. No idea.

Draco1962 Posted May 24, 2011 Posted May 24, 2011 Have you tried using a third-party app, such as SnagIt? You should be able to run GameEx in windowed mode, get the snap capture you desire, crop out the window and save the file (same name as the ROM, of course). You may also want to ensure that you are using the correct codecs, especially for your videos. Recommended are the Shark007 codec packs.
