Hey All.

I've been banging my head on GameEx trying to get it to run after deciding the Config Monster that is HyperSpin was not for me. This is all in prep for an upcoming cab build. I'm no newbie to this stuff, but this one particular issue is escaping me.

Long story short? I launch GameEx, and it hangs on the Nag screen. I can hear the ambiance mp3 playing in the background, and the Logfile seems to think everything is ok, no errors on part of the graphics. If I click the mouse, it goes to a black screen.

I'll attach the log and configfile, but I'm not sure how it'll help.

System Stats:

Win7 x64 Ult SP1, All Updates Installed

ATI Radeon HD4870 1GB (Catalyst 11.3, Latest Version)

Gigabyte EP45-UD3L ICH10-Based Mobo

Intel Core2Quad 2.83ghz

It's not drivers or hardware, I can see that much.

Alright. Now it gets stranger.

Used a ATI Driver Cleaner to rip out Catalyst 11.3, which was put in place via upgrade over 11.2.

Reinstalled 11.3. Restarted.

Now GameEx works.

Weird. :|

When in doubt, recheck, I suppose.

VIdeo drivers can cause some strange things to happen. OK for us to mark this one as resolved?

Yeah, should be good to mark this one fixed. Admittedly I'm pretty surprised that everything else was working fine except GameEx. Then I remembered that MameWah was doing a similar thing. Radeon drivers do some odd stuff, let me tell you.
