Personally I have a passively cooled ATI 5450. I would pay the extra few dollars for the DDR3 version. I think I ended up paying $55 for my card Gigabyte 512MB DDR3 HD5450.

I stopped buying Nvidia products after Vista. MS stopped providing low level support for muti monitor spanning. AMD Created the feature in their driver-hardware to replace it. Nvidia never bothered.

Even on a system that I dont need it I buy AMD because they are interested in taking care of their customers.

^^Agree wit poster. ATI has always been good to me. :)

While Im more of a nvidia man myself,(I just never had any luck with ATI products)as I will choose open GL anytime I can for emulation, both those cards listed would be more then sufficient for emulation :)

I have had both, usually end up with nVidia as I am most familiar and comfortable and had the fewest hiccups. Just replaced my 512 DDR2 MB GeForce 8800 GT that died with a 1GB DDR3 GeForce GT440 that I picked-up from CompUSA for $90 and so far working like a champ.

I'll throw in my 2 cents (US!) for what it's worth.

I'm a PCB-Level PC/Mac Desktop/Laptop/Server/Etc repair tech. Microscope soldering, BGA Component reflow/reball/replace, trace repair, etc. Ontop of the 8+ Years now in IT. Just to give you an idea of where I'm coming from.

With the various manufacturing issues that nVidia has had (7800/7900 GPU's, MCP67, MCP73, 61xx Chipset, etc) along with my own personal experience in dealing with a high volume of product from both GPU/Chipset makers..

I wouldn't touch an nVidia. I in no way, shape, or form trust the engineers they hire to design these parts. Nevermind their internal fab shop. Ugh.

While AMD(ATI) may have the occasional driver issue, atleast I'm not worried about my part dying.

The failure of my 8800GT was the first in many years of using nVidia graphics adapters (1 out of 15 or a 6.6% failure rate - not too shabby).

Overall, they have been very reliable for me. I have only worked with ATI a few times and driver compatibility issues were a constant issue. No problems to speak of physically with the cards, but if I can't use something reliably every time the wind blows or MS updates a service pack, well, it has to be replaced.

Oh noes! An Nvidia/ATI battle has ensued. I've fried boards from both companies and have had cards that lasted forever from both companies. That being said I've used ATI exclusively since AMD bought them. I'm a huge AMD fanboy.

I don't know if I would say 'fanboy' but I've used nVidia cards, PNY cards, and ATI cards. Performance wise it's hard to touch ATI. My Sapphire has been absolutely mind blowing to me ever since I installed it in my rig. I can't say I've ever been this pleased with any nVidia product.

Just to add, I've never had a faulty ATI card come through my shop. NVidia on the other hand...

I don't wanna put anyone on blast, but all five of our computers at my house except my laptop are all ATI products. But to each their own. :)

 I don't think it will come to blows with a flame war like threads dealing with Microsoft vs. Apple vs. Linux... yar!
