Theme Editor

Ok it feels like I'm on the home stretch with this set up and it's mainly some final tweaking with the theme but I'm struggling with the theme editor. There's a few things I'm trying to do so any help with any of them would be great. I'm using the Carbon & Steel 2.0 theme (Great theme btw Draco1962).

1: Menu/Taskbar options: I want to delete some of the taskbar options, I like having the exit GameEx in the main list but want to delete it from the taskbars so that it's not selected by mistake. I also want to delete some of the Jukebox and change view options so that it's simpler but can't find anything in the theme editor or gameex settings to add or delete options.

2: When in the jukebox I wanted to move the track details (select line 1 & 2) over to the bottom left square which isn't being used. I was able to move them but even when I had highlighted the jukebox tab and was on the jukebox screen it moves the select lines for all screens. So when on the main screen the details appear over the video previews. Is there anyway to move these for one screen only?

3: On the main screen I wanted to change the Carbon & Steel heading to something personal for my cabinet, is there anywhere I can change the text?

No.2 wil be resolved in the next release. Im working on skinning enhancments now.

#3: Isn't that drawn into the image? You would need to ask Draco to change it for you or get your hands on the PSD file (although it's not a PSD file because I think he uses GIMP instead).

I'd just shoot him a PM and see if he'd be willing to help you out.

To answer #3 - I have created "blank" bak files that can be customized with a different title/heading. For the title lettering I used the Chrominium logo at Flamingtext.com and used the following settings:

Text

Font - Ethnocentric

Font Size - 70

Logo Properties

Select Gradient Fill

Select Coffee from Gradient Fill Dropdown

Deselect Sparkles

Background

Select Transparent

Once you save the logo, you can copy & paste into the title bar. You may need to scale proportional to the space provided. I use GIMP and this is fairly simple. Should you have any questions about the program, let me know and I will try to answer.

EDIT: As for #1 - The Menu bar is all or nothing at this point. You can edit it out of a theme using Theme Editor by deleting it in the default view that initially loads when you open a theme. I think that you will find, however, that in doing so you will lose quite a bit of functionality. You may want to make a Feature Request under the Pinned Topics for those elements you would like to see as enabled/disabled through the Advanced Configuration.

Thanks Draco that's worked perfectly, bit of trial and error on the reiszing but you're right GIMP seems nice and simple (and now all those grey/black checkers make sense).

So what about the taskbar options, am I looking in the right place trying to change them with theme editor? Custom menus didnt seem to be right or should I not be trying to change these?

Unfortunately, it is either displayed or not displayed. As with any theme, you can edit it to make it more your own. For example, you could move it to the bottom if space permits. Things down at the bottom tend to be seen less than those at the top.

Removing it entirely may remove options available to you only through the taskbar so I would not recommend that.

One last question then, I changed the main screen no worries but the all games and favourites screens seem to link into the same 'MAME' background (I think it's the bak.png?). Am I able to get them using different screens?

You can only use one menu for MAME and its various components. In external emulators there is an option to select custom backgrounds in the advanced config for that emulator.

You can turn off the video thumb mode and the other thing will be possible in the next release.
