There still doesn't seem to be an intuitive way to stop music playing. For both the jukebox and internet radio the only option I've found is the clear playlist option inside the playlist heading (stop/f8, doesnt seem to work for me). Would there be anyway I can take that link and duplicate it in the main menu so that it's easier for other people to see? I use the steel and carbon 2 theme.

Wohoo! finally got it to work using the command line: epsxe.exe -nogui -slowboot -loadbin "[rompath]\[romfile]" -loadmemc0 "memcards\[rom]"
-
With runitgame.bat I'm mainly getting variations on this: I tried switching [romfile]/ [rompath] for just [rom] and I get ECHO is on (no other change) is that a good thing? Data.bmp

What command line do you use? I've downloaded Daeomon tools lite and virtual drive loader and am trying to figure out setting that up in case it helps, where do I put VDL? but seeing as the games work fine without one I'm assuming it's still a command line problem?

I'm trying to get epsxe to work in gameex but with no luck so far: I've got epsxe 1.8 Converted some cd's to .ccd and the games are playing fine with epsxe My main question is do I need a virtual drive like daemon tools to play them via gameex? They get mentioned a lot but I wasn't sure seeing as the games are already playing in epsxe? Other than that I asume it's an issue with the command line. I've set gameex to only see .ccd files and they're all listed fine in the menu but when i select the game it just fades out and then back in to gameex. I've tried the default menu and whatever options I could find searching threads like adding -loadbin (-loadccd), changing vitrual drive to "[rompath]\[romfile]" but I'm just guessing so any suggestions much appreciated. log.txt

Thanks Draco, somehow I must have affected the codecs, reinstalled Shark007 and they're back working again.

I've had video previews playing in the main gamelist menus for ages and never had any trouble with them but all of a sudden they've started freezing Gameex. Like I said the same files have always worked fine, they still play fine in wmp but when I go to a game list the first video preview is working ok but as soon as I try to scroll down the list Gameex freezes? I can load a log file but as it just freezes rather than crashes it doesnt look like it says anything about a fault.

Feature & Enhancement Requests
Noddy replied to Tom Speirs's topic in FAQs, Guides, & Other Useful Information
Not quite what you're asking for but it is possible to scroll by letter, so on my cab holding down a button and tapping the joystick left or right skips forward or backwards by letter, which saves a lot of time when I want to play X'aind Sleena For me I'd like to be able to add games back into the main list without having to go into the ingore rom settings. I like how the search function still finds games that I've deleted from the main list, and from there I can play them or add them to favourites but it'd really handy to also have an option to add them back onto the main list. -
You have to clear the playlist.

I decided to add wifi to the arcade cabinet so I could use internet radio stations but I'm having trouble adding new stations, the default ones work fine. I couldn't get the Irish station RTE working through their site but did get it working with an alternative address (mms://live1.rte.ie/wmtencoder/1516.wma) Other channels using http://www..... I still can't get working, this one is a local sport one that works fine if I copy it into an address bar but doesn't load via GameEx. http://www.perthnow.com.au/sport/sportfm913 Any suggestions for how I can get it working via GameEx? And am I missing something or is there no option to turn radio stations off apart from selecting a new station/song or going into jukebox and using the clear playlist option?

Ok so it looks like the screensaver already uses the GameEx all games list, yay for me and sorry all for starting a stupid thread, I think I've been staring at the computer screen for too long . I'll mark the thread resolved but can anyone tell me how the GameEx All Games list actually works? I had assumed that as it doesn't remove or move the roms that it was basically the same as the favourites list just starting with all the games listed rather than none. But is GameEx actually telling MAME that the games deleted from the GameEx menu are unavailable roms? (I switched from mameui to command line as it works better with GameEx but I've never used the command line on its own which is why I havent just opened MAME to check).
-
In GameEx The previous ones mahjong etc I removed the roms with Romlister but now I'm just wondering about games deleted using GameEx.
-
But if GameEx doesn't move roms wouldn't mame still class them as available/working? If not set to favourites I thought the screensaver used any working roms rather than the All Games list in GameEx but after leaving it running for ages I really don't know? I deleted the bulk of the roms I didnt want by category (mahjong, casino etc) but I'm trying to avoid starting one from scratch and adding the roms because I like having some games I don't know, I've found some new favourites walking past the screensaver at the right time, just trying to get a better balance atm.

As part of cleaning up my mame cabinet I'm cutting the games list way down and hoping to end up with a list of under 1000 to increase the chances of people finding games they'll like or know. It's just occured to me that the screensaver (which I love on the cabinet) gets it's playlist from what Mame considers available and not the GameEx All Games list. I'm trying to get my head around what the easiest way would be to go back and remove the uneeded roms so that the screensaver reflects what is on the cabinet? I can copy the exclude roms list from GameEx's settings, add it to a batchfile and use that to remove them but it will still leave all the other versions of the game and so will probably leave a huge number of games showing on the screensaver. At a couple of thousand roms that's a lot of time to go game by game and check/add what roms need to be added. A list of roms in GameExs ALL GAMES list would be perfect as I can then move them to a new folder and clean it up completely. Is there anyway to get a list or does anyone have any suggestions for how I can avoid going game by game to get my mame rom folder back to just games featured in the GameEx list?

Thought I checked folder options for hidden files but will have to remember to check later. The files I renamed to album were just the covers I downloaded from google pics, sorry if I was wasnt clear about that.
-
Should do, all I know is when I tried to name them folder.jpg it kept saying there was already a file named folder but when I renamed them album, they showed straight away and like I said before they also seem to be gameex's first choice and will show instead of anything gameex downloaded.
-
WMP embeds the jpg I think, MP3Tag detects them but GameEx doesn't. And yeah WMP downloads all info even for legit albums which seems silly, not everyone is online all the time and I'm sure the titles etc used to come directly from the cd? GameEx downloads to Media/Albums but for some reason it didnt work when I tried to add my own (could be something as simple as misspelling, I only tried a couple) but if there are any jpg's in the music folders these will override images in the gameex folder. That's handy if your GameEx is usually online and you don't like an album cover GameEx found, if you delete it GameEx will replace it but put your choice of cover in the music folder and that one will always show regardless what's in gameex's Album folder. I went looking through some old threads when I was trying to figure out the best way to do album covers and that's where I noticed someone say put them in the music folders and rename to album... Somewhere it said rename to folder but that never worked and calling them Album works fine. (No need to resize either, I've got everything from 150x150 to 600x600 depending on what I could find ). At that point I didnt know what was where so thats when I used the MP3Tag actions to recreate my music folder completely, taking only the mp3s and leaving any jpgs behind (except whatever was embedded), I let GameEx find what it could (another one for the feature thread would be a scan all option rather than having to highlight each one) and then tided up the rest myself.
-
Thanks for the replies, that answers my main question which was if it was already possible and I just suck at setting up these things Once I finish with the tidy up I'll add a post to the feature requests.

I use the jukebox more than mame, I actually thought that it reverted back to songlist/text when you exit the jukebox but trying it again and it seems it does remember it as long as you don't leave gameex. Restarting gameex sets it back to songlist/text. That's not too big an issue (its all about keeping it simple for friends to use) but it's also why I asked about it being possible to edit the taskbar options. At the moment BY ALBUM doesnt show up on the home page, you have to select another option like artist/album (which is odd not just for lack of artwork but the writing is all vertical) and then BY ALBUM is a taskbar option. If I could edit the taskbar to hide options like genre, changeview, artist/album then people notice and use the BACK button a lot more and I'd get a lot less "What did I just do?" questions when I'm chasing after kids or sitting on a good poker hand .
-
It doesn't detect the embedded artwork, which I realised after spending a few hours updating everything in WMP . When gameex downloads the covers it adds them to the gameex/media/album folder but because I have a lot of individual songs I made up some mixed albums (70s, 80s etc) using MP3Tag, remade all the music folders by album not artist and then added an album cover jpg to the album folders (jpg renamed to album).

I wanted to check if this was already possible before adding it to the feature request thread? My mame cab hasn't been online for ages so I thought it was time for an update and clean up. I've updated my music and added album covers for albums (not artists) so it all looks sweat when in the BY ALBUM section and using thumbnail pictures. Of course when it switches to BY ARTIST or anything else it all gets messy again So I wanted to check if there is any way to set it so that BY ALBUM (and in thumb view) becomes the jukebox home page and is the first screen you see when you open it? Also is it still impossible to edit and delete options from the taskbar? I'm using an updated gameex and carbon and steel 2 layout. Thanks

When setting Gameex to only show one version of each game is there anyway to change the settings for what version is selected? I'm wondering if I can set it to choose 2 player versions where possible? Some of the 4 player versions work fine but others like gauntlet, tmnt etc lock the character to the player number and so for my 2 player cabinet the 2P versions play better. I was hoping I could use the 'show 4 player games' option to delete them but some dont seem to have a 2 player version so is my best option just to go through the games in the 4 player list one by one?
-
I seem to have skipped this bug and it doesnt help with the brackets issue but in case anyone wants to take out mahjong etc you can also use RomLister to move roms to another folder (or delete them completely). I made a couple of batchfiles to move the different catagories I didn't want like MahJong, light gun, trackball, casino etc. Then went back and removed any other games in Gameex manually, copied the remove rom list from the gamesex settings to a batchfile and removed all them as well from the rom folder (as well as their videos). End result is a full 0.141 rom set down to 1900 usable games.

Oops I've found out why I lost the Mame Bezel at least, it was adding artwork_crop to the command line options in the gameex settings. A big part of reinstalling everything was switching from mameui32 to command line mame (which has sorted some of the problems ), with UI I always had the artwork cropped (I only have a 19" LCD) and the Mame info bezel always showed ok. Being new to command line mame I just added the artwork_crop command to the options which works for the games but it is also cutting out the mame bezel? Should I be using the crop command directly through mame and not gameex? (Edit) Yep creating a mame.ini and changing it there seems to have done the trick. So unless anyone has figured out how to have seperate 'crop' settings for the games and screensaver this thread can be closed. Sorry for the ramble still getting used to the new mame

I've lost the Mame Bezel ( Game name and details etc) from the screensaver and I can't figure out why? I've completely reinstalled mame and gameex recently and it was working fine up untill a week or so ago. It is definitely selected to show in screensaver options. Everything else looks fine in the options, can anyone suggest anything else I might be missing. What should I be seeing in the GameEx folder for the Mame bezel? I couldn't find anything that stood out as the Mame Bezel and I'm almost positive I wouldn't have changed anything but I was sorting out problems before and so it would be nice to be able to check for sure. Is there anyway to reinstall the latest updates? Was just wanting to try updating to see if it fixed it but I'm already up to date.
