Hi all, I have been spending a lot of time setting up my Windows 7 Media Centre and Gammex.

It takes a lot of effort to get things working!

At the moment I have got it working with Mame32ui - (I used advancemame but for some reason it doesn't play games like Street Fighter III 3rd strike - If any one uses this and places these kind of games would be great to understand how you got it working)

My main question is around resolution.

At the moment i am testing everything via my 22" LCD. But i will be moving this to my 50" Plasma via HDMI. I wanted to ask what happens to the resolution on my games? Can I get games to play in full screen? e.g. Street Figther? What happens to the old games.

Can i achieve this in the standard mame config or do I need something more special?

Any help would be great!

Cheers

You can set the resolution in the display settings of Mame32ui. If you tv is 1080p then you should use 1920x1080. All games will be stretched to this resolution. You can also check an Enforce Aspect Ratio box. With that off, it will stretch the game to fill the entire screen. Turn it on and you will get black bars on the sides, but it looks more authentic.

Hi there, thanks a lot for the advice. I will give this a go and see how i go :)

Is there a need to apply any graphic rendering when you get mame to strech the screen? e.g. I know that Mame Plus! uses scale2x which can make things look nicer on the old game. But to be honest I have done some tests and while it seems good its a marginal difference,

Any advice would be great. Thank you :)

Rinc - you mentioned that you are running Win 7 - are you using 32-bit or 64-bit? If you are using 64-bit, you can download it here . I have been using it with great results.

I used Direct3D and bilinear filtering. Under the advances tab I used the effect "Scanlines75x2_j4". I think the effect makes the image look more like an old crt monitor. I also have triple buffering and sync to monitor checked. This worked for me but try selecting different effects see what looks good on your tv. I am using a 22" monitor, might be different on a 50" plasma.

Hi guys, unfortunatly i am not using x64 bit. I cant see the advantage as I am only using 4GB ram. unless some one tells me x64 will provide me more benefits.

I would love to hear from some people who have hooked up their gameex to plasma or large LCD / TV.

PS. I seems most people use mame32ui or Mame Plus! I know that Mame Plus! seems to have more features regarding video and image enhancement.

Once again advice is always great!

Cheers!
