A very curious coincidence

When I started using GameEx, again, sometimes I've pressed the Start button, to go back to the desk top and do stuff. Then click back on the task bar to resume GameEx. Sometimes, it's frozen, and I've had to ctrl+alt+del and stop GameEx. Sometimes I've had to press the restart button on my PC.

In both cases, the desktop image has reverted to the default image. Also, my system (XP SP3) has started adding images to the list of available images for wallpaper. Now it seems to be all the images in My Pictures. I've found an instance or two of this online, and not with the use of GameEx (and no apparent solution), but the coincidence in this case makes me wonder.

Does anyone know what, in GameEx or not, might cause this?

Sounds like an active desktop issue. You will find in conjuction to changing your theme, which some software will do. It can affect active desktop which can affect how your desktop wallpaper is applied, do you notice when you boot up windows you see a difrent background then when it finishes loading. Id disable active desktop and see if your problem goes away.

Of course I can be completely wrong about this too. If just seems to fit right now.

Ah. I already fixed it and was about to use the thread for something else. Ahh.

I hadn't thought of what you suggest, though no before this, the image stayed the same throughout. What worked was I changed the name of My Pictures, and then moved it to the C: directory, then moved it back. Seems to have reset it.

But I googled and then checked "My Home Page", and it was not checked. So I guess I don't have an active desktop.

I just did a full XP re-install, and find I no longer have issues in IE with the reply pane here. Well, I'm using 8 now, whereas I think I was still using 7 before.

In any case, everything's much faster, and cleaner, and I can even run AdvanceMAME via my geforce 6800, vs being stuck with my old 6200. Now to re-set-up GameEx. (I wonder if the bezel will finally show in vertical games.....mmmm...)
