Windows Media Player

Hi all.

Recently i tried to update gameEx and a message poped out saying that windows media player 9 or above was required.

I removed this piece of software crap a while ago,despite microsoft saying that it`s not possible;and the gameEx software functions normally with the exception of the visualize function in the jukebox,everything else just works.

Is there any way to upgrade without the need of wmp?

I have the installer ready(wmp),but i will remove it right after gameEx update,so if it could be possible to upgrade gameEx without the wmp crap installed on the system it would be great!!!

Ok,nevermind i installed wmp and upgraded gameex,then unistalled it again.

While reading this forum,searching for answers,i stumbled upon a post mentioning another media center software,wich i´ve tried and eventually replaced gameEx.

It will remain for emulation thought.

No more windows media player "crap".

It obviously wasnt windows media center then.

I meant to put this in the FAQ, but for the hackers out there in order to get gameex to install without WMP, you put this in the registry.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{6BF52A52-394A-11d3-B153-00C04F79FAA6}

Don´t get me wrong,i like the software(gameEx),i use it on 2 machines but i have removed wmp from all my 6 machines/pc`s because i don`t like and don`t need it.

I have removed it and still gameEx functions normally,with the exception being the visualize feature in the jukebox;so why is it a requisite?

I didn`t menction the other media center software because i think it`s a desrespect posting that info on this forum like someone`s else`s did!!!

And i think the term "hackers" is misleading in that context,it has nothing to do with that.

Yet again,i am greatfull for gameEx,i use it all the time.

Sorry for asking for the "hack" thing,if you meant it to be this way,then it shouldn`t be messed with.
