i added the extensions and still does not show CATEGORIES, etc etc

Do I need to use a special background image?

Just tested and all it needs is one match to at least display the details (i.e. By Name, By Category, By Manufacturer, By Year, Biography, etc.) So if your not seeing that then you don't have any matches. Please, in detail, tell me what exactly you've tried as it works and only took a few seconds on my end to get it going.

I personally would test on another emulator where your roms are using a known naming convention, just for testing purposes. Then you can see what the databases should be showing. And if those work then it's obvious it's a naming issue with the Sony Playstation database.

thanks. i found the same resolution last night as well :)

It appears I need a game name (under GoodName) rather than field "NAME" - weird but works thereafter!

Also, is there a way to search by other fields, say Category, Players, or custom field from gameEx or would I only always be able to search by what gameex lists? (I know how to toggle just wondered if there was a way to change the actual seatch criteria selections as I do not want to use YEAR and MANUFACTURER but something else)

I'm not the best one to clarify this (HK, Tom, or GreatFlash would know for sure), but there are 4 fields containing names in the databases. The first one "Name" is the displayed name of the rom. The next 3 are for No-Intro, GoodName, and TOSEC. In order for the game to show up, it must match one of the 3 set names. The "Name" field is usually the same as the No-Intro field, so you should be good if you match that field. If you are creating a database, make sure you have the name in both "Name" and one of the other 3 fields.

yes that's correct as I have to have the rom name under GoodName for them to show. My question was whether I could change the search criteria - so you can select CATEGORY and other criteria rather than Manufacturer and Year, etc

nevermind i have figuired it out. to do what i needed to i can change the text under the gameex text options, then just place the appropriate new search criteria under the old field (eg: Category, Manufacturer, Year) and all works well... Thanks.
