If your using the databases than you can just select categories and it will list the ROMS by category just like MAME. So just make sure you're pointing to the Database in Emulator Setup.

Yes! Databases can be edited. They are located in the DATA\EMULATORS directory of your GameEx install. If you do edit them then make sure to back them up as GameEx will overwrite them on upgrades or you can also just set the file to read only to avoid that.

i never dealed with the databases in gameex before because i didnt see a need for it but sorting by categories is really a neat feature!

do the databases follow a certain naming convention? because atm my roms for snes, nes and genesis are using the Adultery dat he posted a while back...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but they use No-Intro, GoodName, and TOSEC (all of whichever is available for the set).

That is correct! No offense to Adultery but I would personally rebuild my roms to a known and supported convention. That way there won't be issues with updates, screenshot packs, and databases.

how do you get the filters to display though?

I have the Emulator linked to the Database but it doesn't show the Filter List (eg: Category, etc) on the Game List Screen?

i dont wanna get off topic here... just a quick question, do you guys know if circo switched all snes, nes, genesis avi's to the newest no intro naming convention now?

Posted
do i have to add my game rom name in another column (eg: NOINTRO) then?

Should show with default settings if using a database and if ROMS are in a known naming convention. Are you ROMS not in either (No-Intro, Goodset, or Tosec)?

I think Adultery used either No-Intro or Goodset naming conventions for the base name. You should be able to use the databases without changing anything.

List still doesn't show, do I have to enable anything for it to appear on the Emulator Games List?

Again, what naming convention are you using for your roms? Also post your GameEx.ini file so I can have a look at your settings and maybe it will tell me more about your setup. I can't think off hand why they wouldn't show if you actually have them enabled.

all the games show but there is now button for CATEGORIES, etc etc like there is in the MAME Game List.

Game Rom name matches the name in the Database and the Database is being set correctly.

Please post your GameEx.ini so we can look at your settings and figure this out for you. Just saying it doesn't work and not posting this information makes it hard to know what's wrong.

Config file attached. Emulator is for PSX (Emulator_11)

Is this the only emulator you're having problems with or does this apply to all systems?

it's the only one i'm attempting the database link with at the moment. I will try all other emulators once it is working.

Well looking into that file I notice that it's not complete. There's no known convention so it's harder to determine the name of roms. So you would have to manually enter your rom names into it so that they will match the descriptions. I could be wrong about this and might wanna hear from GreatFlash or headkaze to be sure.
