DVDs and Karaoke question

My wife loves to have karaoke. She was now in holiday and bought 2 Karaoke DVDs. But after examining exactly what kind of DVDs they are, I found out that these are just normal DVDs but with the lyrics. So what I would like to realize is, that the DVD will be played and it should be possible to activate the Microphone so that she can sing to the DVD. I already copied the DVD into the karaoke folder, but (surely) it will not be recognized, and when I start normal DVD play, the micro ist not activated...and in 2 weeks, its her birthday !! So has anyone an idea about that ?

Problem solved : MY fault : Unfortunately, in the mic driver application, the default setting for the mic was "MUTE"...aarrrggghh.. !!

Thats the one bad part about using GE's built in karoake. You can't use it in a cab without going into windows first then activating the mic.
