AVI, MPG, and WMV

Doesn't appear to be any connection to any particular files -- ie it'll sometimes freeze randomly when hovering over a thumbnail but not sometimes not. Seems to happen to any of them.

Regarding the mismatched thumbs and info pages -- I have tested every emulator now, it occurs in all (but not for every ROM).

For my regular movies, none of them are mismatched -- although there are only a few videos there, I'll try copying over a lot more from another machine to see if it occurs.

Again, none of the mismatching occurs in regular list mode, only thumbnail mode.

I cant help with the porn but the other issues are fixed in 9.78. Now available.

I just tried 9.78 -- the funky biography is gone. Thanks.

As for the mismatched thumbs -- they're still there. The thumb for Boulderdash in Coleco, for example, pulls up the info page for Beam Rider. Many thumbs (the majority) do this in all the emulators. Ditto for music -- a thumb for Gwar pulls up The S.U.N. Project, etc.

All my sets (even the No Intro and Tosec ones) are Goodmerged (just discovered a few weeks ago that Goodmerge works -- with coaxing -- on any set). Could that have anything to do with it? It wouldn't explain the music not matching, though.

Thanks for your time and trouble. Few programmers give this level of support.

Just played around with it some more. I think I've narrowed down the problem.

The mismatched thumbs with the info pages, at least in the emulators, occur only after the first ROM with no snap. All the thumbs after that one are messed up.

I have sat here for nearly an hour and cannot replicate it on any system with thumb or no-thumb..???

I just cannot get the result you are getting. I have not got gameex setup for porn and jukebox so I have no idea if this makes a difference?

Have you got the latest databases (out of curiosity).

Take Beamrider as an example, what is the exact filename of the rom and the exact filename of the snap? Are they the same?

Also, do they match ok in the normal list view?

The only thing I can think is a bug with the switch to title display - I am still using the original release.

I have the latest databases.

It's not the snaps not matching -- there are many cases where the snap is missing and the GameEx generated placeholder (with the text written over the GameEx icon) will lead to an incorrect info page. Also the text on the bottom of the screen doesn't match. When hovering over the thumbnail for Boulderdash it says Boulderdash on the bottom of the screen, but the thumb goes to Beamrider when clicked.

For Colecovision I'm using Goodtools, and Goodmerge for naming.

I am using an mixture of no-intro and goodname (and Tosec when needed) and all works perfectly? I have nothing goodmerged, because I absolutley hate goodmerge and it makes delays in the launch of a game when 20 different versions of an n64 (eg) game are unpacked just to run one of them.

I get the wrong thumb now an again (as do I titles, box, etc) but this is because the names are not an exact match and sometimes Bonks adventure wll display bonks adventure II (example).

I just cannot replicate your problem with my set up? and believe me I have tried!

Wow! I'm really impressed with this update! The thumbs look awesome.

May I make a suggestion though? Wouldn't using Title snaps (if available) make more sense? Perhaps going through all the extras in an order of priority (much as the secondary preview in V4 themes already works). First a title, then if not available, then the box, etc. I think title screens would be easier (and more fun) to navigate than screenshots.

I guess I really need to get my mysterious "Create Snaps is missing" problem fixed soon now, as many of my emulators lack snaps. Any chance someone could kindly help me in that thread? Thanks.

Cool update guys! Thanks! I agree on JellyBelly's suggestion on the thumbnails.

I am also still missing the Create Snaps on my HTPC setup which is where I use GameEx. I tried installing GameEx on a different system and the create snaps is working fine there. So, I assumed that if I remove GameEx from the HTPC and do a fresh install that I could get it working. However, it would be a tedious thing however to have to re-import all the systems, favorites etc..

I noticed a problem with Search results and the Image List view on my system. Sometimes the "Play This Game" selection is missing when you select a game from the results and the name of the Game that shows up is different than what is showed on the results page. If you change the view to the "old" way the "Play This Game" option shows up and the name of the game is correct. Change it back to Image List view and the problem comes back. This is not happening on all Emulated Games systems, just some.

I'm not suggesting that you start from scratch, but if you do, the emulator setups are in the GameEx.ini, and favorites are in Data.mdb. It is best to copy the entire GameEx folder to a safe place, because there always to be some custom settings that are forgotten about until they are gone.

I also use a mixture of Goodtools, No Intro and Tosec. Basically in that order -- Goodtools if available, No intro if not, and Tosec as a last resort. Well, I guess PSX renamer as well. ;)

I've goodmerged everything -- even the No Intro and Tosec sets. I'm trying to Goodmerge the PSX images now even (but struggling with it a bit since the default "other" database doesn't seem to like CDZ or ISO extensions, and modifying the database didn't seem to affect it).

I hate having long lists, but like having alternate versions of roms. So Goodmerge makes me happy -- and the space savings is a nice added bonus (I do it for the organization first). On many sets (like the Mattel Aquarius) the space savings are irrelevent -- it's just for the organization.

I occassionally get wrong snaps and have in the past, I don't mind that -- a necessary evil of using the fuzzy matching, which is well worth having a few mismatched snaps for.

Thanks a lot for taking the trouble to try to replicate my strange thumb problems guys. I greatly appreciate it.

Wahoo, did you turn on hide snaps then turn it off again at some point? That's what I did and they have been gone ever since, no matter what I do. This has happened to me on two machines now.

Tom, I'm glad you could replicate my problem -- good to know that I'm not crazy. :) What's triggering it?

And finally, another idea regarding this new and wonderful thumbnail system -- how about perhaps enabling it for the emulator list? Thanks to Great Flash I have very nice slick images for the majority of my emulators, would look very pretty to see them all together as thumbs.

OK, the original issue is fixed in 9.79 now available. Lets create or use the other topics for the porn and Create Snaps.

Thank you so much, Tom!

9.79 works a charm.

Keeping on topic. Any chance of, somehow, labelling folders in thumbnail mode? I'm a shutterbug, and have tons of picture folders, but all show up as generic folder thumbs, so it's impossible to know what is what short of hovering over each. Otherwise the new system is super sweet.

Again, I can't thank you enough for all the help, and individual attention that you and the rest of the gang have given me. Thank you everyone.
