More icon problems

A few weeks ago I had a problem getting mame icons working right. Since then I found out there is a cache for them (credit to everyone here!!) and a new version of Gameex did fix the updating problem.

However, I have noticed that around the W's in the mame game list, icons just don't seem to show up anymore. It almost seems like the cache files run out of space. All the other icons work just right and I have verified that the icons files do exist in the folder, just missing icons from about W's all the way through the end in the game list.

This is a shot in the dark, but if Tom has any kind of validation check on the icons, it's possible that you have a corrupt one that is stopping it from proceeding. Perhaps you could try moving the icons that aren't in the list out of the folder and just adding the last couple back in. If they show up when you refresh, then this is possible. If they don't, then I would agree that it's a list length limitation of some kind.

They don't show up. I can view them in windows too, so they are not corrupt.

All of them show up? I was thinking perhaps one was broken and it kept all the following ones from showing up. Like I said, it's a long shot.

Double checked it but yes all the icons are good

Hmmm, I don't remember having problems with this, but I haven't checked that specifically. My list only displays ~2000 roms. Do you have significantly more than that? I really don't have much to suggest. I think Tom will probably have to help with this one...

My full Mame list has the full 7000+ roms

But I believe it is a cache problem because it affects my custom list where there are only about 300 games. This custom list is used as a separate favorites menu, and has games all the way to Z. At the same spot (around W) the icons stop showing up in this list too. So I think it has to do with the number of icon files and not the number of entries in the list.

On a side note... I have 3964 arcade icon files. This is using the Mameui icon pack.

The only thing I can suggest is applying a filter so that you end up with fewer roms to see if the list will generate icons to the end. That doesn't solve anything, but it might help narrow it down to definitely being a caching problem.

It seems GameEx only supports up to 7000 games for ICONS. Ill fix that for the next release.
