I have Gameboy and Gameboy color combined into one complete set, as Goodtools does it. So in Gameex I have a Gameboy emulator setup. But I can only select one database for this, so I can only have descriptions for Gameboy or Gameboy color. This is the same for Genesis combined with 32X and for NeoGeo Pocket combined with Pocket color.

Is there anyway to get both databases? The only way I have found so far is to make my own. But with the new databases changing things I didn't want to do that again.

I know about using emulator groups, but since all the roms are in one directory, when you click on the group, each rom shows up twice.

Try the attached GameEx.exe with emu groups. It should remove the duplicates.

This is a combined colour and normal GB db, it may or may not work. You will get some match with colour and some match with B&W as the colour names are the same. Anyway give it a go.

Ps. both roms will show up twice as the gb & cg colour names are the same. You would perhaps be best having an emu page for both gameboy & gameboy colour.

I seperated mine to prevent this

I ended up using ungoodmerge to eliminate the clones and duplicates and etc etc, then the game boy and game boy color I unzipped and put them in to seperate directories

Tom, the newest version fixed the duplicated roms problem. But there are some other problems...

1. If under each of the separate emulators configuration I put a rom filter, then no roms will be found. The .7z filenames show up and I can go into each of them, but under each there are no individual roms. I can change the filter to *.* and all the roms show up, so I can still make it work... just an observation.

2. The databases don't seem to work at all. There is no information for any rom under the emulator groups. If I change back to individual emulators, then it works.

Is no.1 just related to when using groups? Also for no.2 I think database support for groups is only supported with v3 or v4 themes. does it work with the Media Center theme?

no.1 is only when using groups. If I use individual emulators then the proper roms show up.

I'm using the MCE v3 theme, but no information shows up. I'm testing this with genesis and 32x

Can you post your log?

Can you post your log?

This first log is with emulator groups on, and using rom filters of *.gen and *.32x. With this setup I have no database entries and no rom files under each 7z entry.

This second log is the same setup but I changed the rom filters to *.*. With this setup I have all the roms under each 7z, but the databases are the same as before.

For reference, if I change back to just one emulator (loading both 32x and genesis roms from the same list not using emulator groups) then it works as long as I use the combined database I created.

Yeah, thinking about it in more detail, its not going to work, as gameEx is not going to know which rom is for which emulator. Sorry I got that wrong.

Not a problem at :) Any way to fix this? Or should I just continue making the custom databases?
