I installed gamex with an account with local administrator permissions.

It works fine but when I go to run it with an account with standard user permissions it crashes.

I'm really not keen on having the cabinet logged in all the time with administrator permissions, I'd like to keep kids coming over from mucking up my machine too bad.

Is there some way a standard user can run gamex?

I think in Vista you right click on an application and select to "Run as Administrator" so that should be a perminant way to have it always run that way.

I always though GameEx automatically did that during it's installation procedure though. *shrugs*

It should. Try reinstalling from the other user acct. Ive only come into this issue once and the answer was a format of windows.

Faronics Deep Freeze is $25 and its installs whats called a sandbox type program that make windows always go back to when you enabled it upon reboot. So you could effectivly delete all your registry and reboot your pc and its back. Or change your screensaver reboot and its back.. Or delete your emu configs.. Reboot and its back..

Its awsome

Thanks I will try reinstalling as the other user. I didn't know about Deep Freeze it sounds very slick. I see it's $45 now.

I might go for it if I can't lock down the PC as much as I'd like.

If you want to run GameEx from multiple accounts, you may have to install it on each account so that you get the registry entries in each. I don't know if Tom set it up so that the registry stuff is in a global location or if it's user specific. Just so you know, you can install to the same location on each account and it shouldn't hurt anything as far as your settings.

I tried giving the standard user administrative access, reinstalling gamex and setting them back to standard user but it still crashes.

I'll probably go with deep freeze once I get everything done on my cabinet. The standard edition is $45 now though:

"Deep Freeze Standard for Windows with 1 year Maintenance - $45.00"
