Hi Tom,

Would it be possible to implement a simple 4-digit password (joystick scrollable of course) when the Exit GameEx option is turned on? This would prevent roommates and non-computer people from; freaking out, freezing, drunkenly yelling, banging on my door at 3 am, leaving the machine on all night so windows icons can burn-in the screen - if they accidentally exit GameEx out to windows.

Thanks,

Bob Ross

hi ive built an arcade machine {huge 4 player }

and it has over 40.000 games and i run gameex

wich i must say is brillient

i tryed making my own frontend and just before finishing it i found yours

wich was perfect.

only 1 thing i would like to request

the gamepad to keys emulation i.e project 64.ini

only supports 6 buttons and each player has 10 buttons on my arcade machine wich

runs off of gamepads

and when playing call of duty 2, i cant throw grenades ect.

is there any way u could tell me how to modify it or if you could

put it on the next version

Hey Tom. I think a great idea would be to include a programable rom section so that I can tell gameex to launch these game manuals that I have acquired in PDF form. So now my end users can look at the box, the cartidge and the game manual for each game. All these images really add more of an expeirence for me and others. Cause.... who doesnt like to reminisce when perusing the games.

You could either make it programmable, or you can just build it in to launch adobe acrobat.

What do ya think?

Also another addition I think would be nice would be the ability to kind of have some kind of hierarchy in your games like this.

16 Bit Emulators (indicated by some kind of header title and graphical indication)

Super Nintendo

....USA

....Japan

....etc

....#My Favorite Super Nintendo Games

Other ideas for possible features could be to include some kind of CD image mounting utility so that people can run ISOs on newer computer games.

My final feature request might be something similar to my script that I built for the DOS emulator gameex.ini creator. You might want something like that to create thousands of "emulators" for DOS games.

My top feature request would be the PDF game manual section. I am sure you can easy import an internal PDF viewer into GAMEEX.

I hope you are doing well Tom. I am sure you will have a very successful year. Happy programming.

In favorites, you can choose to browse by maker, year, etc.

How about the non-mame ones? They won't show up then, right?

How about an option to enter these values manually, say, to a text (.dat) file?

Something like:

;rom name

_game_01

_name_"this will be shown as the name in GameEx"

;year

_year_"will be shown as year"

;number of players

_players_"1" (here it's either 1 or 1+)

;category

_category_"shooting" (same categories as mame uses of course)

:-_: this would mean "next game in game list".

;rom name

_game_02_

etc.

I don't know diddley squat about programming, so I just added the _value_"" as an example for how the different values would be recognized by GameEx.

On that note, it would be nice to categorise games by the number of players too. For when 4 mates are over and you want to play games where everyone can have a go.

headkaze: Or an optional subgroup to multiplayer games where you choose number of players by 2, 3 or 4? Can GameEx use radiobuttons?

Video Clip Jukebox mode, imagine having a nice big set of music video clips and you want to play them like a jukebox but with video. I think this would be easy to add since Attract mode already does this. So perhaps just add a menu in the video player "Play all" or "Play all random".

Should do that already, no?

Instead of having a seperate panel of letters to skip to, why not have it be possible to assign a button or joystick movement to jump ahead to the next letter in the alphabet.

Also, the Ultrastyle front end has a cool feature that allows you to adjust how many games to skip upon pressing a button. I have mine set to where I skip fifty games at a time by pressing my 3rd fire button. Then when i'm in the general area it isn't as annoying go right to the game I want with my joystick.

What do you think?

Tom - Love the front end and I understand that I am one of the few that are using your application on Windows XP 64-Bit.  I would like to use as a Shell replacement but of course that will not work unless the code is 64-Bit.  Have you considered a 64-bit complie?  Not sure how much work but thought I would put in a request.  Thanks again for your work and effort.

Tom - Just an FYI - tried your latest 5.36 version with the 64-bit of the 2.0 .net framework only installed and it would not run. When I started GameEx it complained that a version of .net was not installed. I just wanted to let you know this information.

Thanks again

I'd like you to add a feature that keeps the jukebox/radio playing music even after you select a game for an emulator other than mame. I'd like to have my currently selected music playing while I launch Project64, a web application, or what-have-you.

How about the ability to have even BIGGER font sizes. This would really help on a 19" Arcade monitor.

Thanks!

Have you tried the latest version? It has "bigger" font sizes.

GameExtender Feature Request

I am loving this new feature! I would like to see a way to config it so that you can change the refresh rate, maximize the pictures when running in an internet browser and also config what is displayed. I noticed that when I hover over something (CPanel, Flyer, etc), that is what is displayed. I would like to see a rotation of these files.

Also noticed a bug, my screensaver doesn't seem to work any longer in GameEx 5.40

Problem turned out to be unrelated. Don't know why but my Right Control was activated. A reboot fixed it. Might have been a problem with my keyboard encoder or something.

P.S. to the above.. maybe just auto-send backspace key so users can see gameex transition one up after exiting the game... might look cool.

something else i was going to ask for was ability to turn play game screen off on per-app basis, either because some systems have no extra info installed or for use with dirmap apps like my picture viewer.

obviously only send the one-level-up key where the play screen is being used.

possibly also a return to main menu option instead of one-level-up (this isnt already in is it?)

P.P.S possibly put an 'Add to favourites' *icon* on the right of the last played game's menu item.
