Seriously, this is annoying....

I updated to 9.12 today, and my PluginUltrastik.cfg has been replaced with the standard one. Now I have to re-do it to enable the custom maps that I have been using. I can't tell you what else is wrong, but is this necessary?

If there is a good reason for it, is there a guide somewhere for updating?

If there isn't a guide, I can feel another project coming on....

Will somebody give me the full story on this?

From what I can tell, there is nothing wrong with the updating but I know bout the full screen thing, the problem you are talking about I thougt was fixed, and I just looked into it and that should not happen. Is not happening on my system, so you might just have been unlucky there. I think there would generally be more uprard if the whole thing was farked. Of course your welcome to start a new topic and see what everyone thinks.

I hate to say it, but it makes me sad to see another update notice and think "Ooh new update! I wonder what this one fixes?", only to realize "Oh, still no roms in folders/insert-widely-requested-feature here support, but boy howdy, it works on Windows ME now!"

Obviously, my favorite request should come first.

First as always GameEx just keeping getting beter and better.

2 requests 1 for Tom and one for Headhaze

I am running about 25% of my games etc. off of cd. I burn my games into folders and seperate by country. I then run seperate emulatora for each country and then put them in groups.

If I don't have a cd in my drive when Gameex starts it will throw me out because of this. It can be any CD even a blank. Is there a way to have it just not look and the drive when opening.

For Headhaze. The setup wizard works great due to the large number of emulators I use. My only problem is if I need to export my emulator.ini file, it can't be done in setup wizard. I have to move the emulator up to a number below 42 and use the GameEx config and export it from there. Then I have to go back to Setup wizard and move it back to its proper place.

Well hell... I never knew GameEx could do that! This solves my issue, it makes scrolling a bunch easier without having to rely on a mouse button for the page up/down buttons.

I swear, this program gets better and better, even without new releases!

But I ADORE Gameex. It's the pride of my media setup, everyone who comes over is so jealous, and it's stupid easy. Even my roommate's "less than sharp" body-builder boyfriend was able to figure out while he was drunk off his ass without help.

I think that's an endorsement, right?

Maybe that could be added to the main front page and/or submitted to MAMEWorld for their testimonials about this FE so others will know how good it is.

Hi,

A suggestion for the items that have already been added as features to GameEx - perhaps these could be compiled into a list and added to a FAQ or another sticky with some sort of guide as to where to find the feature/set it up. If more than one person is asking about it, then possibly more people will ask for the same feature because its not clear whether its there yet. A guide might prevent this noise.

This is the first request for correcting the ratio of video snaps, so really this belongs in the main features request thread...

I would love to see the avisnaps with maintained aspect ratios.

So a vert snap retains its ratio rather than squasing horizontally.

i'm not sure i mentioned this before, but then my VECTREX SNAPS would play correctly

I did a search for .flv files on this forum and only saw someone else asking the same question I have. I would love to be able to see my .flv files on the media browser / preview them when selected / play them with a click. Is it possible to do so with the config or is it just not supported? Please let me know if there is somewhere in the forum that gives me the answer to this if previously discussed. As you can see by the rank next to my profile, I am a "newbie" to the forum although I am not a newbie to the front end. If I have posted this feature request out of place for the third time in a row, I apologize. Also, after using this program for years now and I have to say that I am infinitely impressed by Tom's dedication to the frontend. Donation in my case was a no-brainer. Thanks for an awesome product and let me know if .flv files can happen,

I have a request Tom

Mine has to do with the GameEx Extender Viewer / Dual Monitor Setup...(which is getting more and more popular for us emulation folks!!! any of you guys who havent tried it....its awesome!!! )

1) User can decide which items will appear in the gameex extender (marquee, flyer, etc etc) and if possible to be able to decide where it will be placed. For me i would just use Marquee) and give the user the ability to "turn off" the switching between whatever images types you have. Right now no matter what u do u cant turn off the gamex statistics or that control panel view. So if i just have marquees and flyers chosen.....it will only rotate between those 2 items.....and if i were to just choose just marquee, it would only show the marquee.....with no other transitions

2) Make it more compatible with VPINMAME (one thing i've noticed that's driving me nuts is that if you have a dual monitor setup is that either gameex or gameex extender viewer wont remember exactly where the VPINMAME DMD was placed last......so everytime i play the table again I have to move it around to the correct spot on my 2nd monitor (***update, ignore this part, its actuallly a problem with vpiname not gameex extender

but this >>> is still a problem >>>and to make matters worse is how gameex extender will take the "screenshot" of what you are doing (i think its the GX and gxrem) and if you are in the middle of trying to move around the VPINMAME DMD on the other monitor it will cause everything the freeze and you have to "esc" and start all over.....

It would be REALLY NICE if it also displayed a picture of the emulated system, like it does when you go through the "Emulator" menu. I have so many roms, that I almost always choose my game by going to my favorites. But then I miss seeing my cool picture of the Atari 2600 and Game Boy, etc.

The sheller program is great in that it makes somewhat difficult tasks really simple. I want to get rid of the startup and shutdown screens, but I do not want to skip loading windows. It would be great if there was an option to either run gameex without first starting windows explorer (like it does now) or to load windows regularly.

Oops, I didn't quite understand what the "program to shell" option was. It is exactly what I was asking for. This program is really amazing. So many awesome features. You did a really great job.

Would it be possible to have PDF files added as a valid extension in the "Instructions" section of an Emu?

The reason I'm asking is because I also have my PC Windows games set up as an emu and a lot of the reference cards only come in PDF format. A nice touch would also be to add a "Guide" or "Hints and Walkthroughs" section (hopefully also with PDF extension).

I like the idea of a hints and walk through type item, but I don't know how much use it would be. I guess that would basically be for strategy guides?

I would like a feature to be able to read manuals in both pdf and cbr/cbz format.

Another one is simple I guess: can you make it possible to use a picture of the front of the manual in the game details screen for the manual, instead of the screenshot/movie of that game?

Recently found a bunch of "best of videos" for different systenms on youtube. The videos basicly cycle thru anywhere from 10 to 300 previews for games for a system. Would like a feature where in the new V3 themes, this video could play underneiath thes ystem pic as you scroll thru the variuos emulated game sytems. That way it would refresh the user's mind of what the systems grapics and games for that system were .Does this under videos now.
