Awesome. I've already merged my existing database into this and deleted the (few) duplicate records. Like I said, the naming conventions used in the existing database are very similar to what I use anyway. I've made a few corrections and cleaned the database up a bit. For example there were several entries listed as "Electronic Arts, Inc." where others were listed simply as "Electronic Arts" - I've corrected those and similar entries to make them more uniform and the database cleaner. I'll upload the newest version tomorrow.

Wow, I didn't know this existed. I just looked at the database and the naming convention is pretty much exactly the same as what I started in my database. I would like to add entries to your database and bring it up to date with some newer games. Is it ok for me to provide updates to this database here if I continue work on it?

Hi all, I decided to start working on a PC games database for Windows based games. So far I have about 50 games (those I have installed) added to the database. This database is of use if you have your Windows games set up as an emulator (via *.lnk shortcuts). I'll provide my emulator setup also. Just change the paths to your shortcut folder. [Emulator_1] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=PC Games TITLETEXT=PC Games StartPageLogo=PC Games ROMFilter=*.lnk RomPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Shortcuts SnapPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\snap TitlePath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\Title BoxPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\Box Art CartPath= ManualPath=F:\MEDIA Library\E-Books\Game Manuals ControlPanelPath= InstructionsPath= WorkingPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Shortcuts MapKeys=False WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=False ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=False ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=""[ROMPATH]/[ROMFILE]"" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter= configFile= ExcludedFiles=;EverQuest II - Launcher.lnk;;Fury Launcher.lnk;;Future Pinball.lnk;;Mame 32.lnk;;Oblivion - CS.lnk;;Turning Point - Fall of Liberty.lnk; CustomBackground= PlayMusic=False DontShowInfo=False PlaySelectionMusic=False SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame=False DATABASE=[PC] Windows Games GamesIn7Zips=False PlayInScreenSaver=False ShowMostPlayed=False RandomMostPlayed=False CDCheck=False CDCheckFile= [GENERAL] DumbyValue= Attached is the current version of the database, which is simply an edited emulator database. So far, it contains Categories, game Release Years and Game descriptions. Copy the attached database file to your GameEx/DATA/EMULATORS folder. Remember, this is still a work-in-progress, but I thought I'd share this and provide updates as frequently as I can. If you have a request for a game to be added, let me know and provide the name of your shortcut link ~A P.S: Since PC links are "standalone", meaning they don't always follow GoodROM naming conventions, I've decided to name games in the following format: For example "Call of Duty 4 - Single Player, Call of Duty 4 - Multiplayer, Civilization 4 - Beyond The Sword, Age of Empires III - Warchiefs". Enjoy! _PC__Windows_Games.zip

Launching PC games with individual Xpadder profiles

I should've mentioned that the .bat file is indeed called upon via a .lnk (I just didn't want to make things sound more complicated than they are). Anyway, it seems I just now got it working. I modified an advanced config, the "[Mapping On] Exit nullDC (Process Close).ini" Now it actually exits the game properly and does eventually return back to GameEx, but it requires a button press on my gamepad to return to GameEx. I'm sure I can figure that out. However, although everything is working, I'd probably like to work on a more elegant way of this procedure as mentioned via AutoIT maybe. here's my modifed advanced config I'm using: please point out any potential errors you may find, as I have no clue what I did to make it work # This is an advanced emulator configuration file. It does things such as allow keyboard only emulators to be operated by a gamepad, wait for additional processes to exit and map keys. If this file is used it overrides the MAPKeys setting for the emulator. [GENERAL] # Enabled. Use this. Enabled=True #Make MCE Back button and X-ARCADE Escape and SlikStik Escape to close emulator process MapBack=True #Make Escape key close emulator process MapEscape=True #When exiting an emulator via the above mappings, you can specify keys in the send keys format to send instead of having GameEx close the process to cleanly exit the emulator. Such as the Q Key or ALT F4 which is %{F4} KeysToSendOnExit= #Wait for keys to be processed by the emulator EmuWaitForKeys=True #Additional processes to wait to exit or close on exit. Dont include the .exe. Leave blank not to use. Process1= Process2= Process3= Process4= [JOYMAPPING] # For mapping a GamePad to keys # Specify a virtual key code to send when the specific joystick control is pressed. Look at vkcodes.htm for codes. Hi all, I'm trying to launch PC games with individual Xpadder profiles. I've got everything working, but as soon as I exit a game, I see the desktop without taskbar. Both the Xpadder and GameEx processes are still running in the taskmanager. I'm then forced to terminate bot processes, start GameEx and close it again to get my taskbar back. I'm launching via .bat files and I'm suspecting that this is where the problem is. I'll provide here the settings I've got working so far (example will be Call of Duty 4): CoD4.bat start Xpadder.exe "D:\Emulators\Tools\Xpadder\profiles\Call Of Duty 4" "F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Shortcuts\Call Of Duty 4 - Single Player.lnk" /m The above works perfectly fine for launching the Xpadder profile and then the game itself (from windows and from GameEx). Here is my PC Games configuration: [Emulator_1] Enabled=True STARTPAGENAME=PC Games TITLETEXT=PC Games StartPageLogo=PC Games ROMFilter=*.lnk RomPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Launchers SnapPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\snap TitlePath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\Title BoxPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Art\Box Art CartPath= ManualPath=F:\MEDIA Library\E-Books\Game Manuals ControlPanelPath= InstructionsPath= WorkingPath=F:\MEDIA Library\Storage\Game Launchers MapKeys=False WaitBeforeKeys= SendKeys= ReplaceDash=False ReplaceUnder=True Capitals=False RemoveBrackets=False ShowDesktop=False Debug=False MAPFile= AlsoLaunch= Command=""[ROMPATH]/[ROMFILE]"" OLDatZip= LaunchBefore= LaunchAfter=pskill xpadder.exe configFile= ExcludedFiles= CustomBackground= PlayMusic=False DontShowInfo=False PlaySelectionMusic=False SelectionMusicFolder= PCGame=False DATABASE= GamesIn7Zips=False PlayInScreenSaver=False ShowMostPlayed=False RandomMostPlayed=False CDCheck=False CDCheckFile= [GENERAL] DumbyValue= I'm suspecting that the problem may be the batch file itself. All my games will launch and exit to gameEx properly if called directly via their .lnk file (without using any batch file). Also, the Launch After doesn't seem to make any difference whether I use pskill or any other form of terminating the Xpadder process (Btw, pskill.exe is installed in my windows\system32 folder and can be called from a dos box to terminate the application, so I know it works) Does anyone have any ideas on what to try next? I'd also like to know if an AutoIT script might work. If yes, I'd like to ask for help setting one up. Thanks everyone

Completed Feature Requests (Moved)

Would it be possible to have PDF files added as a valid extension in the "Instructions" section of an Emu? The reason I'm asking is because I also have my PC Windows games set up as an emu and a lot of the reference cards only come in PDF format. A nice touch would also be to add a "Guide" or "Hints and Walkthroughs" section (hopefully also with PDF extension). Thanks -
I just wanted to say thanks to the developers of GameEx and the people involved in making the additions to this program. I've never really been a hardcore gamer, but for as long as I can remember, I've been fascinated by computers and technology. My first computer was a Sinclair ZX 81 way back then in the day. Later that was upgraded by my parents to the Spectrum 48k. Other Systems I've owned were Atari ST, Amiga 2000 and of course PC's in all their variations. Anyway, my point being, I truly appreciate GameEX and it's capabilities to tie all my favorite Emulators into one single GUI. Not to mention the options to use it as a stand alone HTPC frontend. Aside from the fact that playing all these retro games (including Mame arcades) not only brings back those fond memories of my childhood, but it's also so much fun even for an adult My wife sometimes wonders why I'd want to play "old" games, but hey, it's a nostalgia thing I guess So, keep up the great work with this awesome program!! And to anyone even thinking about buying it or not, it's definately hands down the best money you can invest if you're into retro gaming!

Thanks so much for the info Headkaze...all is working perfectly now!! Maybe the information for installing the roms and renaming could be added to a documentation file, since it's really not intuitive for new users to do this. Especially the renaming part which seems a bit unconventional.

Thanks for the response Headkaze. I got everything working after doublechecking the .ini files manually. Although I can't remember what I did, it must've been a correction in the filepath. Anyway, I also want to say that WinUAELoader is an amazing piece of software and works flawlessly from within GameEX and via it's standalone app. I do occasionally get an error for missing Kickstart Roms although I do have a very comprehensive list of available ROMs from the original Amiga Forever distribution which I bought a while back. Here's what's coming up when I try to load Burntime via a WHDLoad package for example: Dos-Error #205 (object not found) on reading "devs:kickstarts/kick34005.a500" I'm pretty sure I have the right Rom files, and the paths are all setup correctly. Any ideas on this? Last, I'd like to register WinUAELoad, but from what I could see, I'd have to send an envelope via mail to germany? Is there any other way to register? Paypal for instance. Thanks for any help and this great app!!

Hi, I have a few questions on the GameEx configuration for WinUAELoader. I have everything set up for the wrapper and all works fine when launching a game from WinUAELoader. No matter what I do, I just can't get any games to show up in the GameEx menu (setup is: Emulators--->Amiga and all my other emus are working fine and showing all games). I've imported the .ini file and adjusted my paths to point to the right locations. Also, my games are all stored in a single folder and my Rom filter is set to *.zip, since the gamebase files all came in zip format. Again all works fine from the WinUAELoader app, but list always shows" -NO GAMES FOUND" in GameEx. Any ideas? I know I'm missing something simple here somewhere, so any help is highly appreciated. Thanks
