i downloade and installed mdac 2.8 frrom game ex web site and had 3 errors pertaining to dll files and came back with same error msg. is this common with win me os?

Nothing personal but why not upgrade to XP Pro? It is so much better than ME it's not funny. In fact ME is known as worst ever Windows released by Microsoft. I'm not going to say anything about Vista (ahem).

Even windows 2000 would be a better choice.

Installing MDAC should fix that error. What does the log say now you have MDAC installed?

after i tried loading mdac twice with the same errors installing 3 dll. it said mdac loade but when clicking on to run game ex it still shows the same error that mdac is missing. the reason i am using win me is that it was free and i am trying to put this together for our church youth room and we don't have much of a budget. should i give up on this and wait for a different pc to be given to us. this was our old church office pc . thanks for all the help. Jim

You could try installing Win ME fresh on the computer (reformat etc). It sounds like its buggered one way or another if MDAC is not installing properly. If thats what your saying?

Heya. Just thought I would give this link to MDAC 2.8 SP1, which solved the problem of installing it in the first place. I had the same plroblem with Windows 98 SE and the original MDAC 2.8. The version below installs fine, and allows you to run GameEx.

Just curious if DirectX 9.0c is compatible with WinME?

You could try a different theme that's super basic. I don't know if GameEx will initialize all the drivers if the theme doesn't require everything.

This is fixed in 9.10 now available. I did a Win98SE install here and got everything working.

Enjoy.

do you have a link to download 9.10 from? thanks again for all your help.

Thanks for the update. Hope your head wasn't swirling to much in nostalgia with the very old school install!

Now I can finish this box and give it to my friend for his birthday ;-)

Actually my head was hurting! Windows update wouldnt work until I somehow managed to install IE6. Then the system freezed up at least 4 times before I even managed to complete the GameEx install.

Id buy your friend XP for his Birthday ;)

Seriously, your welcome. GameEx is supposed to work on 98SE and ME.
