Hey All,

I donated to the cause and just installed GameEx v9.08. When scanning through my only rom directory the product finds 75 roms out of the 4000+ I have in that directory. Mame32 sees them all! The UltraStyle (front end) sees them all however GameEx only sees a very small number.

I have searched the forums, and the few threads that talk about this typically end with no solution or there was one in which an individual copied his old v7 config directory over the version 9 one. I cannot find an older version to download.

It sounds to me like the creation of the gameslist is being heavily filtered out of the box. I have gone through all of the Advanced MAME setup throughout the product and found no filtering that would afftect this other than the BAD ROM filter which increases my total rom count by 15.

What am I missing here?

Thanks!

Try tuning off verify roms in the advanced config tool

Also, if you havent already, I would run all your roms through one of the various rom checking utilities.

Dont forget to turn on show clones, "I want Mahjong", and adult games on if you want to see them all.

Hi,

Top of my head, allow imperfect ROMs should be on: this will display any that have "known problems" warnings

No Clones (Unless better)

You will still need to allow a few exceptions (like Pac Man, Double Dragon, R Type) to et the ones you need but I think this is pretty close to my setup: without Mahjongg or porn, I have over 3000 titles I think.

Hope this helps,

Johnny

I assume you already figured this out, but if not...

All you have to do is disable the filters. There are a few, so just turn them all off. Most are listed in previous posts above, but just go to that section in the configuration wizard and disable all of them. Make sure you delete the string in the filter text box ("japan, ...")

Those default filters can be bastards - I once (ages ago) went 4 hours wondering if I was going blind trying to work out why Image Fight wasn't showing up. :P

Naw, they are a good thing and it's good that they are turned on by default. *MOST* people don't really want to see all 6xxx roms MAME can play. The only people I see complaining are the ones who want to be able to say "look at me, I've got 6xxx games one one machine". Don't get me wrong, that's cool. It's just not that useful having 6 versions of the identical game in a row.

But yeah, it takes a bit to figure out how they affect things.
