Is there any way I can control the GameEx menu with only joysticks and not the mouse? For example, I would like the player 1 or 2 joystick have the ability to scroll down by pushing down, and then be able to page down by pushing right, etc. Also, I would like to be able to map certain buttons to use for ENTER or starting a game. Is there a way to do this? Thanks.

Also check out GameLauncher mode (a simplified input mode perfect for cabs that have only 2 buttons). For fast scrolling, use the alpha paging button. Hold it down and press up and down it goes down a full page, hold it and press right or left and it goes to the next letter of the alphabet.

Where do I find Gamelauncher mode? I was able to map my buttons for ENTER and BACK, but I really want to use the joystick for UP,DOWN, PAGE UP, PAGE DOWN. Will Gamelauncher help me with this or is there a feature in GameEx that will do this for me? I couldn't find the input for page up/down in the scan code file when I enabled keyboard input.

What type of controls are you using? I've been able to use an Arcade X controller as well as a keyboard to soley navigate. It's all about the configs...

I'm using a keywiz max encoder and I cannot get the joystick to key the page up/down when I map it out on the joystick. I'm able to get my player 1 & 2 buttons to perform ENTER and BACK, but I'm puzzled why I cannot use the joystick to page up/down. Not sure what else I can do. I'm ready to move on to another Frontend if I cannot have this function :(

Is the keywiz a gamepad encoder or a keyboard encoder? eg does it work as a keyboard or show up as a gamepad.

I could look it up but im lazy. Anyways it will help us troubleshoot.

So is it safe to assume p1 controls for joystick are UP,DOWN,LEFT,Right Arrow keys?

Really Id use autohotkey to map p2 controls to the same functions while gameex is the active window. This way your emus would be fine then when gameex is up the remapping works.

If you need help let us know what your controls are now. eg meaning p2 up=w or whatever.

Since we're on the topic, I have a couple GameEx control questions.

1. Can you setup BOTH joysticks to control GameEx? In the Setup tool it only allows you to use P1 joystick. You can do multiples in the configure tool with keyboard commands and separating them with a '|' but not sure about joysticks.

2. Is there a way to allow scrolling the list with your trackball. I've found this a quick way to scroll the list in other frontends like Mamewah but in GameEx when you activate the mouse you're no longer in the list. If you shut off the mouse then you lose it altogether. Would be nice if the Alpha paging modifier key locked down this functionality also.

1) Yes, but it requires an AHK/AI script to remap your controls for P2 to P1 (if you have a keyboard emulator) OR via XPadder to send the same keys for both P1 and P2 (if you have a gamepad emulator). The first one is really easy, ask if you have problems. The second is pretty much self explanatory, just install XPadder and set it up.

2) The short answer is no. The long answer is yes with a script I wrote. I don't have it in front of me, but it's in one of the threads here that I started. I think there's a current version in there. Search for "Mouse2Key" as I recall.

EDIT: I guess I never linked the file correctly to that thread I was mentioning. Here's the script. I think it's current, but let me know if it doesn't work as I did mess with it recently. I don't think anything I did to it needs to be included though.

Thanks for the help kenobi, I'll check these solutions out.
