20th December, 2007 - GameEx 9.03

A fairly nice update featuring some new features

MAME Bezels are no longer a registered version feature

New feature to display game information and rating bezels for the screensaver. This looks really nice, and you can thank Headkaze for this.

Updated model 2 support to work with latest version. GameEx will also detect whether to use the multi cpu version automatically

IMPORTANT: Older versions of the model 2 emulator prioir to commnad line support are NO longer supported. GameEx will detect an old version at startup, and exit with an error to that affect if it finds one.

Basic control panel support for emulators has been implemented. You can specify an image folder for control panels now. If GameEx finds an image based on name, you will get a view controls option on the game info page, and same as for MAME GameEx will show the image for 9 seconds when launching a game. I don't forrsee expanding on this much, and if you want better control panel support I recommend using Headkaze's CPWizard.

When playing radio stations GameEx now shows the track/title information when available

Should fix array bounds error on startup when using GameLauncher mode

Fixes theme editor menu/info positioning issue

I'd like again to thank the GameEx community for al there hard work and support, and wish you all Happy Holidays

AWESOME!!!!!

Hopefully now that the GameLauncher array bounds problem is fixed, I'll be done with my driving cab. Time for a party...wooohoooo  <pending check ;) >

There are some really nice features here. I hope everyone appreciates this stuff as much as I do. And what good timing. Right before I have over a week off.

Never really got around to thanking Tom and all the team here for this fantastic frontend . After seeing it , me and a pal were inspired to build an arcade cab around it , its at its final stages now so hopefully get it finished during the holidays and will post pictures of it in the new year, didnt need help in setting the emulators up with game ex yet!! (because of the wealth of knowledge that all you guys have already covered when I was searching through the forums .

Amazing work .

Have a very happy Christmas .

Okay I guess this would be slightly classified as a bug report...probably been going on for a while.

Anyways I was looking through my log file and noticed a bunch of warnings about paths not existing....this I typically think is correct given that a path has been entered...and its incorrect...however if a path isn't given...the warning should be suppressed...my thoughts anyways.

-----------------------------------

Okay another so called bug report...not really a bug...more just a mild pain in the ass. :)

GX when selecting Configuration from with in the application fails to check to see if a session of Advanced Configuration is already running. It should grab that session and give it focus should it be running...and only spawn a new session if there wasn't a prior session already running.

Its a silly thing...but figured I'd make a mention of it.

----------------------------------

Doh! just realized that since these are both more than likely long standing bugs...and not bugs related to this release in and of its self....I"m up for an ass chewing... :o

Well the issue isn't that the path is wrong...the issue is...there was no path given at all...so there shouldn't be a path to validate...and hence error.

thanks for another update!

but when the screensaver starts, it shows only a blank screen and returns to gameex.

when i disable the new "show bezel" option the screensaver works finde.

has anybody the same problem?

What version of Mame are you using? I think older versions of Mame used -artwork_directory as the command line option for changing the artwork directory while newer ones use -artpath.

Try running

MAME -showusage >cmd.txt

And tell us what it says for the artwork folder.

Also the Attract Bezel feature is currently not supported by Bezel V1 format (Mame 0.106 and earlier).

I thought it was a similar problem, sorry

--------------

In relation to the new feature "Basic control panel support for emulators" and to the "emulator profiles" of Cpwizard,

I would like to know if there is a program that can create images of the same control panel on the basis of all existing roms in a folder.

This is because for some emulators every game has the same functions so I will to use one for all games
