Hello.

I'm sorry if this has already been answered or if I'm being generally stupid right now, but I can't find a solution.

When I try to play any game through MAME everything is fine but when I exit, the resolution of GameEx goes haywire.

2/4 of the screen is what I see, how can I fix/change it? I tried many of the different flags within the newvideo.txt that's in \docs\ but to no avail.

Help would be much appreciated.

Hi. I don't think that MAME is causing your problem. Have you by chance your windows desktop set at 32bit and GameEX display resolution set to 16bit ? You need to have them both at the same resolution. Also, you could set GameEX to not change resolutions (although i'm not 100% sure what this does - sounds obvious i know).

The "GameEx wont change resolution" under the "Don't switch resolution" setting just means GameEx will run in the same resolution as your desktop.

Cheers HK for pointing that out. I just couldn't figure why you would want GameEX to run at a different resolution than your desktop.

No, I'm sorry to tell you that none of that options changes it, I still have the same problem. I have the latest version of both MAME and GameEx and it's really bugging me out, I want to play my MAME games through GameEx really bad. There's just noway to do it this way. :(

Safe: Have a look in your mame.ini and check for an option called switchres, maybe if you try setting that to 0 that will stop Mame from changing resolution.

I have the "-noswitchres" enabled in the MAME config in the GameEx config.

Still doesn't correct it. When I play games or watch movies nothing is wrong, SNES, N64, etc., works great with GameEx but MAME just doesn't seem to work.

I have this same problem. All the resolutions that I have established in INI files are not being read through GameEX. When I try to play a game through GameEx it looks all cloudy like it is being stretched or something. When playing a game through the command line everything looks great.

Anyone have any ideas??????

I'm using the latest registered version of GameEx and I have an ArcadeVGA card going into a real arcade monitor.

Kool, have you double checked your mame .ini settings per the Ultimarc site:

http://ultimarc.com/avgainst.html

You definitely want Switchres on '1' and hwstretch set to '0'. That could be the cause of your 'blurriness' and mame not using your custom inits. I have an ArcadeVGA and a Betson 27' monitor it runs flawlessly with GameEx. It's odd that it would work through a command line though. How did you setup your custom inits, the Arcade Res Tool? Maybe take a closer look at what those custom settings are.

I'm checking this right now.

Also, my monitor is Vertical if that makes a difference.
