Serious problem - URGENT

I update the MAME list because not only saw zigzag but I have not changed anything compared to last time with the version 8.95

With 8.96 now I see only 1472 games over 6000, the list will stop at D (DRUMMANIA)

I tried with different versions of mame

I take it you tried restarting?

Posted

Yes, windows restart but problem persist

Now I physically removed zip files (roms) drummania and neighbors.

Rescan list and now gameex displays 6000 games but the previous problem of zigzag and other not resolved, even on 365 favorites displays 354.

Filters are not running

In my data.mdb no problem, these games are like any other show

:blink:

I don't see why it would be the problem, but did you upgrade MAME without upgrading your ROMS? It may be possible that MAME choked on an old ROM for some reason. Just make sure you are using the same version of MAME and ROMS and you should be good.

Tom, Bkenobi I think that I have trouble trail from old times, for example, every time I update the list mame I always go to change manually BezelVersion = 2 in the gameex.ini.

I have serious problems with the DB database categories: with microsoft access is ok but in gameex strange things happen.

Same thing for mame list, I have no problems with other frontend and clrmame pro. What happens?

Posted

i have deleted all new files windows create today in the gameex\data directory except gameex.ini and data.mdb

update list but problem not resolved

Not only zigzag but other games not in list

I use mame 0.120

This is probably because you have verify roms turned on, and MAME does cant verify the roms, or you have only existing turned on and your roms are merged. Or you have only working turned on and the games are not fully working.

Ben Kenobi was pretty spot on in what he said.

If you want to list all games then basically turn off verify roms, only existing, only working and turn off the rom filter. Otherwise GameEx will do its best to give a list of only "decent" games. Which to be honest, is what I want it to do.

I think the list issue was some other kind of unrelated issue.

I'm sure, my mame32 and clrmame pro works fine

Just because they work in MAME32 does not mean the games are 100% correct, and MAME will verify them as such when building the list in GameEx. If you want to show every single game whether "working" or "verified" or not then read what I said before.

Alot of time there are Re-Dumps of a particular game... or several to make them more accurate..

Perhaps getting the rom set for this version.... Which is now out of date because mame is up to 121 U1 now.

Could fix the issue.

Bian familiar with the issue but I do not believe that that is inherent to me go here :

--->

I re-tried now with these settings

OnlyWorking=False

AllowImperfect=

VerifyRoms=False

OnlyRoms=False

NoGameInfo=False

GameFilter=

GameFilterOn=False

NoAdult=False

NoClones=False

I see only 1492 games over 6000, the list will stop at D (DRUMMANIA)

:huh::wacko::blink::angry:<_<:huh::huh:

--->

I re-re-tried removing the zip of drummania

Now i see 6822 games but all are 6823 with drummania :angry:

Strange things really happen that I can not explain.

Now you know what happens? I see all the games but not all the icons? Towards D jump to the letter O, then a hole and then resume

Up to yesterday, there were not these things! Uff

Do you believe has importance that uses a usb hard disk with all games and gameex ?

Posted

So your gameex installation and roms..etc are all on an external disk?

That should be fine... As long as gameex config is pointed to the correct drive letter..

I would use these settings

OnlyWorking=True

AllowImperfect=True

VerifyRoms=True

OnlyRoms=True

NoGameInfo=False

GameFilter=

GameFilterOn=False

NoAdult=False

NoClones=False

I would also create a new roms folder callled ROMS2 and I would copy a few known good roms like sf2 and such in the folder..

Then id update my gameex config to point to the new roms folder... Then Id update my list again and see if only the FEW roms exitst..

Brian until this morning everything worked regularly, I have not changed anything then gameex config is pointed to the correct drive letter as usual.

Now works but I can not display icons from D to O and from S to Z. Probably happened a power outage during the rebuilding of icons.

There is a command to restore icons without having to make a full update of list ? I do not want something happens again...

Nothing is not working, configure anything wrong, Tom please look my gameex.ini. In my opinion there is something wrong

Many functions enabled or disabled does not change anything,

If I able or disable mahjong or other does not change anything

I do not speak only of updating list but also other function,

Example :

Hide Create snaps does not work

Hide Update List does not work

Post it then.

My betting is your usb hard drive is on the way out. Or your gameex install got corrupted.

A lot of those options regarding the list, require another update to take affect.

Tom, I discovered this:

:mellow:

I tried with all new versions of mame and different mameinfo.dat but the problem is still there, updating games and gameeex displays only until drummania if i remove the string gameex works with all remaining roms then there is some problem in writing in gamelist.txt.

Unfortunately I can not understand where the problem is, help me otherwise I can not do update roms and icons just stick to the D

:(

After more than a month I changed several versions of gameex and mame,

important is that I changed hard disk but does not change the problem.

I have to move temporarily drummania roms in another folder before upgrade gameex-list, another method is that I must edit gamelist.txt as the previous post

Certainly not change my life not play drummania but the problem is strange , do you not believe?

Posted

Call me a noob for not reading the thread, but...

Did you use clrMAMEpro to verify your sets? I'm willing to place a wager on this being a CHD problem as opposed to a ROM set problem.
