Circo
I wanted to give some advance notice of all of the new content that will be appearing at emumovies.com over this next weekend. I have mentioned that I was going to start offering the whole package of extras for FE's in addition to my video sets. I have made quite a bit of progress over the last 30 days and I will have the site updated with what new content is finished by this weekend. This should give you the jist of what I am talking about:Naming Conventions - No-Intro or GoodXXXX (If no-intro not available)Videos - Cropped, Re-Edited or Redone, 30sec avg with at least 20-25 sec of gameplay, any missing vids replacedManuals - PDF and as complete as possible (When only text available I reformatted and put into pdf format as well)Snaps - Cropped, Same Resolution (320x240 or 640x480) Titles - Cropped, Same Resolution (320x240 or 640x480)Carts - Cropped, as complete as possible (Started with Screenshot Archive and filled in blanks)Boxes - Cropped, as complete as possible (Started with Screenshot Archive and filled in blanks)All files with have the exact same file names and should be a plug and play solution for GameEx (or any other FE). These should be the most complete collections on the web. On the carts and boxes if I didn't already have the pic I used ebay or google image search to find it and the edited the photo to match the set. I have completed two minor sets (Atari Jaguar & Atari Lynx) and have misc packs for many other systems as well. I will have everything that is done so far uploaded to the site by this weekend. All extras will be available via direct download at emumovies.com. Video sets will be available via Torrent, FTP, or DVD (Some of the smaller sets will be available via direct download) This is what I am working on when I am away from my main machine (that I use to make the videos) Should make it very easy to get GameEx set up!Hope you guys are going to like it! ShAddiX
Sounds really really great! But I have a questions. How will the quality be?I really like HQ snaps and covers. So it would be great if the quality is as good as possible.

So it would be great if the quality is as good as possible.Other for the MAME set the video previews will still be 320x240 (SQ), however they are cropped and the content is more uniform (Just like the new MAME set if you have seen it.) Carts should have uniform backgrounds and for all I used the highest quality images that I could find, but I am somewhat limited because I had to rely on other sources for the images. one2three
me likey!Circo, is it possible for us to "build" these sets from a .dat? I haven't quite figured out this process, but my thinking is that I may have some of your work already downloaded and would like to grab it from my current sets and seed. Not sure if that makes sense, just trying to keep from downloading stuff I already have (no need to tie up your bandwidth or that of other seeders).one

hansolo77
Man this is great news. I was just about to ask if anybody had started compiling anything like this for us. Now I don't have to! Let us know when it's all set up and ready to go!

Circo
I have finally started adding some of the additional content to the collections pages today.Atari Jaguar - Snaps, Titles, Carts, Boxes, Manuals & OverlaysAtari Lynx - Snaps, Titles, Carts, Boxes & ManualsColecovision - Carts, Boxes & OverlaysI believe that these are the most complete collections that you will find anywhere. All follow standard naming conventions for plug and play use. There may be some issues with the naming of the videos but I am hard at work fixing that issue. The video torrent will be updated in the next 24 hours or so as well. Also, I did a fairly major overhaul of the collections pages today to support the new contect being added to the site. You should find it much easier to navigate and access files. Please feel free to offer any feedback, most of the changes that I made today were because of points made by users of this site. Hope everyone likes it!
ShAddiX
Great work! Keep it up.I just had the idea that it would be great if this could become some kind of community project. It's just an idea. Like a site, with a community, everyone can upload screenshots (HQ and SQ), manuals, covers (HQ) and so on. (would be great for the newer consoles and pc games). Up to 5 screenshots for a game. If someone thinks he or she have a better one, they could send it in and moderators decide if this screenshot is good enough to replace a bad one or use it as an extra one.So there would be a complete database for all kind of games, with game informations, screenshots and so on. But I think this would cause a lot of traffic.Preview videos should be still shared with torrents. In such a way works the "Online TV Database" if some of you know it. ( http://thetvdb.com/ )Just as an idea, maybe for the future, but I will make a concept art just for fun. So you can see how this would be. So, see you later
hansolo77
In such a way works the "Online TV Database" if some of you know it. ( http://thetvdb.com/ )I never heard of that site before. Is it just a db, like IMDB, or can you actually find tv shows to download and watch?
ShAddiX
No, the database is just for the informations (series name, episodes name, description of the episodes, actors, genre, banners, covers, caps and so on)XBox Media Center, the meeTVshows and TVNight plugins for MeediOS and Meedio and the MP-TVSeries plugin for MediaPortal use this database. (I use Media Portal). You configurate the program and the plugin (folders where it have to look for series), and create rules with variables to read out the name, season and episode of the series. Then you test if everything was found correctly. Is everything alright, you can let it import all the information and pictures from the database. After the update it looks like this:http://img455.imageshack.us/img455/944/previewog1.jpgOr when you choose a series:>> Click hereEverything autimatically And if there is no information for your series, no problem. Log in, create your missing series or edit it, add covers, add snaps, just help the community and the database. And such a feature in GameEx and other frontends with games, well, it would be a new experience. But I know, it's REALLY difficult to realize such a project.
momaw27
I'd be more than willing to help compile stuff for this... I'd just need somebody with more knowledge in this area to let me know what to get and how to do it...I'd love to see something like this!Beau

I think if I tried to make my site like your talking about my head just might explode.

I'm fairly new to the whole emu thing, but I've found everyone involved to be outstanding, and ridiculously helpful... I'd searched the web for Screenshot sets in an effort to cut down on the time it would take me to do them myself. While there are a number of sources out there (many of which can be found linked here in the GameEx forum) they were all incomplete and/or not matching up with my sets. And I was left spending hours touching them up with file renamers, and filling the gaps with GameEx's, very useful, snapshot feature.I hadn't even considered trying the video preview feature until I heard about your project, which honestly, is the only viable way for me to add such a cool feature.I'd just like to say thanks. Thanks for all the time you've put in, and all the time you've just saved me.I put in an order for the whole DVD set (via your site). I have no trouble what-so-ever supporting worthy projects, such as Game-Ex, and yours... You Guys Rock! With the time I've saved, perhaps now I'll have time to try my lame, but ever-improving, hand at HeadKaze's new Cpviewer!Cheers!-Brian L (SpyDIRmaN)

midget35
Hi Circo.I have some questions I don't think have been covered so far:1. I like to keep sets sorted with GoodMerge, and it has occurred to me that these vids probably won't display in the 'main' game lists, but only when the archive's opened, and the full game name is visible (flags et al)? can any one confirm this? This would be a real blow to bringing emumovies into my gameex setup.2. Also; how does the set maintain accuracy with no intro and goodx sorting? surely a game can only have one file name, and i understand this is the only common denominator for matching movie and rom?3. And finally, will you also be maintaining dats to go along with these sets? I spent eons downloading the HQ sets and found it difficult to keep up with the updates very early on. Absolutely vital to keep track of IMHO.But assuming Goodx naming compatibility is OK - and the goodmerge thing does not stop vids being displayed in main gamelists - i will absolutely be investing in the ftp service! Thanks in advance for any help you can offer Circo - and congratulations once again on what is an incredible repository of game media!
