Tom, That was the issue... I disabled the groups and it works fine... What is the correct way of getting groups to work? Beau

Hey guys! It's been a while since I last posted but here's the latest problem I've been having. When clicking on a game to play my system used to go to the Game Inof screen that displayed pertinent info about the game and any other systems that had a variation of the game. I really love this feature, but some some odd reason, GameEx quits with an error when I enable this... every thing worked fine if I disable the Game Info option in the Advanced Config. I know next to nothing about this error log, but for some strange reason it seems to say that I've set a Custom Background on some of my emulators but I haven't... not sure if this is the problem... So I figured it out... actually I found it in another post from way back... I DL the newest version of FFDshow thinking newer is better... but apparently the best version to use for GameEx is one from 2005. You can get it HERE. I then uninstalled the old codecs, restarted, then installed the 2005 version of FFDshow and I was good to go! Hope this works for you as it was SUPER frustrating (as I'm sure you know!) Beau

Yeah... me too. I have made sure I've unistalled all divx codecs and then installed FDDshow... the videos play fine in WMP but cause GameEx to freeze when playing them... I forgot to add too that the sound still plays for the duration of the video... but just a black box where the video should be and to get my computer up and running again... I have to reset. Hey guys! It's been a while since I've been here and it feels good to be back. Here's the deal. I'm trying to get DOSBOX to run from GameEx. After reading a bunch of posts I decided to go the DFEND/shortcut route. I can get the games to launch but a few seconds after they launch GameEx loses focus. If I ALT-TAB I can go to DOSBOX and play... Something doesn't seem right. I've been at this for a while now and decided I need some help Any thoughts... or maybe there's a better way to run DOSBOX? No such luck... some games work great but others don't... Donkey Kong is the one that's throwing me for a loop though... should be an easy emulation but it's slowing down and the audio is awful... Out Run is choppy as well... but games like Street Fighter, Pac Man, and others are working fine... Any thoughts? Beau

Hey Brian! Could you please post the your command line that you're using with .119? I'm still having stuttering audio and slow down (!) in Donkey Kong, Out Run and a few others when I didn't really have any problems before... Now with Out Run, if I set frameskip to 6 I get a pretty smooth emulation... but with Donkey Kong, no luck... it's very strange... How do I use the new -rs switch? Maybe that would help? Beau

Hey guys! I just downloaded the awesome High Voltage SID Collection (pretty much every c64 tune written!) and was wondering if there's a way to set GameEx up to play these tunes through the Jukebox? Maybe there's a better way to do it? Has anybody else done this? Beau

Hey guys! I'm a sucker for nostalgia and really couldn't play my SNES or Genesis games without the 'REAL' deal... Thank goodness I stumbled across this site... Retro USB Really easy to modify your old controllers and turn them into USB controllers... I'm slowly getting all they offer... $17 a pop is a bit steep for a Children's Pastor's budget... but I'll get there... oh yes... I WILL get there! Beau

Hey guys! What version of MAME are you guys using? I've downloaded the latest version but is seems to have messed up my sound. Simple, small games like Frogger and Donkey Kong that were once working great now stutter... I saw on the What's In Your Cab thread that some of you are using .106... would this be considered the best version? Also, is it the consensus here to use different emulators for specific games (ZINC for Street Fighter 2 EX, Nebula, Raine...)? I guess it's just the purist coming out in me as I'd like to run all Arcade Games from MAME... but should I just get over this and use different emulators? What's your take? Beau

First off, welcome JimJim! I think you'll find us a bunch of great people who love helping out others with their GameEX problems! You'll find what you're looking for under the MULTIMEDIA/HTPC section of the Advanced Configuration portion of GameEX. Maker sure Enable E-Book Reader is set to YES Then point GameEX to your E-Book directory in the next box (if you have multiple directories be sure to separate them with an ";" minus the quotes)... Save the configuration Then fire up GameEX... You'll find all your E-Books waiting to be viewed under the MULTIMEDIA section on the starting page. Hope that helps! Beau

I seem to remember having some problems with this one as well... the way to fix this is to make sure that "Perfect Sync" is clicked in the Options Menu in Fusion Kega. This actually fixed a bunch of my CD's! Hope this helps! Beau

I now have a list of all my PCE CD's and GameEX checks to see if the correct CD is in my drive before it launches Magic Engine. It works like a charm! Check this thread out...
