Here's a fun issue I've come across.

When I launch the game, Gameex disappears correctly, but then says goodbye, but the game loads and works with the controller. Gameex music is playing softly in the background. Upon exiting the game, the screen exits to the desktop and gameex is still on the taskbar, music playing at that same lower tone, but there is no way to recativate Gameex without closing it on the toolbar. It won't even open to it.

Now, this is Duke Nukem were talking about. I think it's his finest game. Very rare game from my early xp collection.

Wait I have an answer as I write this. Set Duke to in Win 95 compatbility. Do you think it would work?

What exactly says "goodbye" Gameex? Clearaly gameex isn't regaining focuse because the process is still runnning.. Are you exiting the game via the in game menu or a key combination... Is the game launched via a loader?.

If you are using the games exe to launch the game..Try using a shortcut and set it up as an emu... with the rom filter being *.lnk and the command being just "[rompath]/[romfile]" Of course your rompath and your working path will be the directory the shortcut is in...

Let me know if that works.

Sorry, it says "game over" when you enter a game. It's that read the words out loud function Tom put into Gameex that speaks out game names and says game over when a game ends and goodbye when you exit gameex.

Did you get a chance to try my suggestion?

I figured it out. It runs off the prism3d engine. You have to set the launch to prism3d.exe which then launches Duke Nukem Manhattan Project.exe.
