Hi All

I'd appreciate any help as this is a bit of a strange one...

I've got a list of videos and the previews play fine..

I select any video and it plays without a problem..

However when I select a 2nd video the screen goes black for a few seconds, there's a beep and then you are returned to the menu. From this point no videos work.

If I exit Gameex and start it up again then the 1st video chosen works again but the same problem is repeated..

A bit confused on this one :)

I'am assuming the program that runs the video is still running in backround. When you go back to gameex it is not ending the process and a new video is loaded.. I the BEEP is probably a dialog asking you weather you want to quit the viedo or not.. Show desktop isnt enabled so you cannot see the dialog. Are you using a 3rd party progam to watch videos?

That would make sense...!!

Nope I'm not using any 3rd party software to watch the videos (unless unkonw to me !!!). I'm assuming that installing something like videolan etc after Gameex wouldn't change the default media player without me knowing it..

Assuming I'm still using the default player is there anything anyone can recommend..

I do not watch videos through gameex... As yourself being a new user I cant exaclty ask if it was working on prior versions.

Press ALT+TAB and see if you can get that dialog box to come up.. This might help figure it out.

Further to this. I have got Gameex running correctly on another PC.

The difference between the two is the Working one is using Vista the other is using XP..

Also the working one is using an MPEG codec called "Microsoft MPEG2 Video Decoder". The XP is using "Cyberlink Video/SP Decoder". There isn't an option on the XP machine to use the Microsoft Codec

Try installing the klite codec pack

Posted

I now definately going crazy with this one !!!! :)

I installed the lastest Klite codecs without success.

I uninstalled the latest Klite codecs and just installed the recommended fdshow from the Gameex download page without success.

Where would the Microsoft MPEG 2 codec on my Vista (working) Gameex setup have come from as I can't seem to find that on my other machine ?

Blueboy, It may be a bug in GameEx I need to fix. Can you zip and post your GameE.ini and full log and ill try and duplicate the problem.

Thanks.

This problem I encountered before, sometimes it would crash gameex, sometimes it would just go black, crazy shit happens. There is a way to fix it. I just can't remember. Does this only happen in Mame? If it does, refresh you game list, delete the specific mng that does it, and if you updated your mame, make sure you have the correct roms because sometimes they change with new mame releases.

Hi

Haven't tested it in Mame yet (I haven't set up the video previews yet !!).

This is just in the "Videos" section...Just purely playing .avi / .mpg etc of music videos etc

Go to Mame32 outside of gameex and click refresh on the list. That might also help find which rom sets are bad and giving you trouble.
