Mame game list by image instead of text?

Is there a way to scroll thru the gamelist showing images ?

I am trying to get away from displaying all my games as a text list and would like to be able to select a mame game by a marquee or other graphic.

I know that Atomic and Mala have this feature as well as Ultrastyle, but I am trying to get GameEX configured with this feature as well.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Curently you cannot(At least that I know). The best you would be able to do is make a theme that has the snap shot/video. And make the text the same color as the backround this way you wont see it..however you lose everything else and really isn't something I would do.

Also with only showing snap/video/marquee you lose other info for example.. You lose which ver of the game you are running.

I for one like to know if I am choosing SFII champ or SFII rainbow/super fast/cheating/throw 110 fireballs that follow me version.

Also looks like what you want to do with MAME. ( You can also make a CD/USBDRIVE that has the FE and ROMS and CONFIG so you can take it over a buddys...Also a requested function of GE.

However it sux in comparison to GAMEEX and can I see why you want GAMEEX to do this as well.

Maybe one of the Guru Theme Makers around here can shed more light on this.

Advancemame/menu don't have configuration utilities (a bummer, there) so they take up little space and headroom. However, +100 gig external drives are cheap these days, so I don't see an issue, except that you'd have to install GE on the foreign computer...though there's probly a way to set it to run from the drive. Hizzout has been messing with this with a thumb drive.

GameEX works great with the videos I captured. I would really like to use it for my frontend. I have 346 games that my cabinet is going to run. I captured all the video as Xvid. Both Mala and Atomic won't display them properly. I get rainbow colors in the video. I tried changing my desktop resolution and bit depth to 16 bit and still have problems with those other frontends.

Making the layout look the least like windows is my goal and GameEX should do nicely for that.

For the list, I am creating modified images. I want them to be very legible and tidy.. here is an example.

I could create a separate picture for clones , so that would not be an issue.

If there is not an option to use images as a list, perhaps we could add it to the "wishlist" <Grin>

Some people have those games filtered out. It wasn't my choice, but my wife complained so...
