Hey all!

I'm just about to update my MAME ROMs. For the newest 0.117 ROM set do I need CHD files for the cps3 ROMs to function? I really really wanna play SFIII and Warzard!!!

CPS3 was a CD based system as far as I know (it could also be HDD, but I can't remember which), so of course you would need an CHD (cloned hard disk)! :D

You do Need the CHD. Mame upon first load will take the data from CHD (CD IMAGE IN THIS CASE) and FLASH the roms with the data like the real hadware works. In mames case it will create a nvram file. After that roms dont need to be flashed but it does check to see if the CD is there (copy protection) and mame emulates that so yes you will need the CHD.

However in Elsemis emulator you do not need the chd it just uses the roms.
