After reinstalling windows, changing power supply, changing ram, changing video card, optical drives, then trying a new harddrive I have finally found out why Gameex randomly locks off and my screen goes in standby mode. Nod32! I've loved nod32 for the past years I've been using it, but I think the active monitor is choking it up because it tries to scan each file thats accessed, and when skimming through my romlist I believe its a bit too much overhead for it.

Beware fellow users, it's had me down and pulling my hair (and pc components) out like made for 3 weeks.

hmm I don't think this is the case...gameex doesn't access roms, when browsing the game list...at best you would have nod32 accessing movie files or snap\titles...I don't seem to have this issue and I also run nod32...I'll jam up on a video some times...but its all ways the same one....which in my case its ether badly encoded...fragmented or just simply damaged.

I'm running a registered build of 2.70.32 if that makes a diff, on WinXP SP2.

I'm on a dual core systems...so maybe this is what is making the diff...all I can really say is that I'm not having issues.

I'm using the combo GameEx and NOD32 v 2.7 without problems, so I doubt that NOD32 is the culprit..

I've a funny feeling this maybe ipac related (sounds absolutely crazy i know) and i've not much knowledge about pcs but i'm running the same pc game on 2 systems (one gameex/ipac and one not) and sometimes when i run the game as an emulator on gameex/ipac setup (by pressing player1) the graphics are messed up. Having said that i've a couple of other pc games that work fine. Don't know what the story is but it pisses me off no end and my ipac wont remap most of the time :(

possibly a damaged ipac? i too run my gameex on an ipac, (i don't have, nor know what nod is for that matter) and pressing p1 button does nothing but what it should do.. either send my CP keypresses into "shifted" keys, or act as P1 start in mame, daphne, and all my emulated consoles. I'd say either your ipac is malfunctioning, or possibly your keyboard key mapped to the P1 button? what key is your P1 button sending?

I couldn't say whether your ipac is broken or not, but I don't see why the ipac not sending the right key (or no key at all) would cause a problem with the graphics of you game. The ipac only sending key strokes if you have a PS/2 version. If you have a USB ipac, then there could be conflicts I suppose, but I somehow doubt it.

ok guy, so then we can rule out the ipac can't we?

I use an IPAC and NOD32 without problem. My IPAC works FLAWLESSLY. Being an unprotected circuit board probably isn't a safe job.

My IPAC is after running away with my wife ! I think its about time i stopped complaining about ipac/remapping issues.

I've pulled the IPAC out of the mix for the past few weeks, so my issue can't be that.

I've given up on this issue (it only happens very rarely to me anyway) and by all accounts is too difficult to troubleshoot. I've just resorted to live with it (don't even think that it's GameEx related).

:)
