How do I get to make a game's name instead of the ROM name with an emulator different than MAME when I click on the game name?

i.e.:

Microsoft DOS (DOSBox)

Game name in the list: Bubble Bobble

Name of the "rom": bubble

when I chose the game and the Play this game button appears, the game name appears as "bubble" instead of Bubble Bobble.

I created a .map file following the FAQ

i.e.:

bubble|Bubble Bobble

and I set GameEx to use that .map file.

What do you think it's my error?

It should work. Can you post the map file, and your log? (Zipped first)

Actually it may be that GameEx cant find the map file. I think you need to specifiy the full path to it. The log should hopefully tell you if it cant find it.

Let me know if that's it.

It can surely find it cos names DO appear in the list

This is a screenshot of the games list of the emulator and it's ok:

This is the "Game properties" screenshot; as you can see right above "Microsoft DOS", the game name doesn't appear, there is the "rom" name instead (Arampage instead of Alien Rampage):

Got it, sorry was not sure if it was user error or not. Obviously its a bug I need to fix.. Thanks for letting me know.

Wow! You're cool, man. I didn't realize it was you replying to my posts

I'd just forego the game info - I do. Also, was there an easy way you made that list? And what configuration parametre did you use to set that path?

i noticed this too recently with my sega genesis roms.. it just started happening so i dont know what caused it.. all my roms appear as the file name and not the game name.

This has always been the case in any 'other emulators' I've set up. It's cos there's no game list parametre - it just shows the contents of the rom path folder. (There's no exe path, either, so I can't get any other versions of Mame to run in this category.) A way around this is to have more specific paths, such as are in Mame. Obviously Tom had reasons for setting it up the way he did. Having no idea about batch files and all that, I have no idea why.
