What? No light up buttons? :) lol. Just nagging on ya. Nice setup. What did ya use for the HDD mount? Just L brackets or is that a cage?

I wanted the joysticks that have the LED ball tops those are sweet. but $$$ runs out.

I have the HDD mounted using L brackets. It worked out great. MB is attached to the backplate of what you have in your regular case which is screwed into wood.

I still need to get some vinal contact paper or something to make it look good. Maybe Ill just stain it.. Not sure

I liked the ARCADE IN A BOX desing and got my ideas from that. I have RCA on the outside and just plug into TV.

Im using GAMEEX + Instant Sheller. no kb no mouse. Everytihng is controlled by joysticks. Works great!

Looks like a weird button layout. I put my two "extra" buttons on the top of the main 6 and use them as my back and select buttons in GameEx. Since they aren't used in the emulators much except for the same control functions I wanted them out of the way of my pounding. How do you have yours setup?

Well the four buttons on top are COIN 1 P1 START and COIN 2 P2 START.

I Like the streetfighter 6 button setup but also love the game mortalkombat this is my cross between the two. P1 start is also select in gameex and coin is back.

Suprisingly not

dude looks awesome, and the idea is great. (once my money gets back to where i can spend ((still recovering from my first cab)) i may have to try to make one to have on the go... of course if you didn't mind my copying! haha!)

and just to throw in my 2 cents, my gameex select is executed by pressing the P1 joystick forward (right) and to go back you push it left (back). no need for an extra button if that's the case, and believe it or not it's pretty smooth. it gives a feel of cycling through menus rather than selecting them.

no, right is advance, left is back. maybe it's just hard to understand, but it's fluent in selecting games/navigating gameex.

I get it now..

For some reason I thought you meant you had to do a left right combo to select a game.

*Puts down the joint for the evening*

*sparks a joint* yeah it works for me... hey man i meant to ask you, how do you have the portable arcade set to boot? i know it's shelled to gameex, but how do you turn it on? do you have the bios set to "power on after a/c recovery"? so you just plug it in and it goes? power switch?

If you look at the pic of the back youll notice a red arcade pushbutton (its wired to my motherboad poweron pins) Its located directly above where I plug in the power. Also directly from the back I have A/V and ethernet. on the faceplate ( I got it at radioshack)

For my standup arcade I have the motherboard bios set to keyboard power on.

This way all I have to do is wiggle the joystice to turn it on since of course Im using an ipac which is a keyboard.

WORKS GREAT! :)

yeah unfortunately my mother board doesn't support keyboard power on... that'd be sick. so i'm stuck going the route of switching the bios to power on after a/c recovery... which is cool since the top half of my outlet is wired to a light switch so i walk in my room and just flick the lightswitch on and it boots up. if i didn't have the lightswitch i'd simply plug it in to play... shut down windows and unplug it, then when i want to play plug it back in.

That a bummer about the MB. I'am attaching a better pic of the Arcade button power on. You could just use a hole saw on the top or back or wherever and place the button. I just cut the wire from an old pc case I had extended it and connected to a cherry microswitch. Very easy and effective. Also Im not how sure how good the light switch idea is. Like you said its the same as pluging and unpluging. Each time you do that its a surge to your powersupply. With it always plugged in there is always a little current going through you might even notice theres a light that stays on in your MB. Thus turning it on would be the same as if hitting the on button of the pc.. Of course you would need to be using an ATX powersupply. Im not sure you can even find AT ones any more. :)

Anyways enough rambling. Heres the pics.

Btw do you like my home-made arcade spinner? I found its instructions on Jthompsons webpage :)

Brian: going by the picture, I think you put them a little close together. You have room, particularly to the right of P2, to spread them apart.

Whoa, nice spinner Brian, I wish mine looked that pretty. Mine's held together with zip ties and an old coat hanger. Works good though doesn't it? ;)

Woah how big are your hands! Those buttons are too far apart for my liking!

It did take some getting used to.

I'am really into the fighting games and wanted it close to mk and streetfigher.

Mk buttons are a litle further apart.
