Hi again!

It works solid in MAME, but nada with GAMEEX..funny thing was is that it worked great about 3 versions ago..then I updated and it no longer works... :o

Have you tried starting the setup wizard, and using the settings for choosing the keys for GameEx to use? I'm very tired at the moment, so excuse the fuzzy english.

X-Arcade uses a keyboard emulator, right? I have been wondering lately what kind of trigger GameEx uses to detect key presses. If you press a key on the keyboard, there is a raw key that can be detected, but I don't know if it is detecting a DirectX "virtual key press" of some kind or perhaps another method.

My primary interest is in making my GP-Wiz32 able to have both P1 and P2 control the interface. I have used JoyToKey with no success, AutoHotKey with somewhat limited success, etc... Anyway, I'll be trying XPadder tonight, so perhaps this will resolve the issue. Either way, it might help you if we knew what it was looking for.

You can use this program KEYHOOK.EXE that I found at BYOAC to detect keypresses on your CP. Maybe this can help you narrow down which buttons do what.

The question still remains..what changed in the last three versions that killed the XArcade from being fully fuctional (automatically) to non-working?? (Maybe Tom might know??)

Have you tried to re-install an older version to ensure it was a version change and not something else?

I'm guessing that most people don't keep old version and they are not available for download (as far as I know). I keep them just in case, but as of yet haven't needed them!

Yeah I guess your right, but I keep mine as well. My oldest copy is 5.11.

:o WOW! I used to have archives for everything back to 6.xx or so (I wasn't archiving before that), but since v7.xx I haven't been having problems and Tom has been so quick to fix bugs that I deleted all but the last couple revs. I also noticed that the installers were ~13-16mb each, so having ~25 versions was taking up a lot of ROM space. :D

my x-arcade parts haven't budged at all with any versions of gameex. i never used the setup wizard, i just edited the "custominput.ini" file in .\GameEx\CONFIG\ (install dir)

use the "scancodes.txt" in the same folder to find the correct keyboard keys. i went ahead and added that file to this post just in case it's been removed in the newer versions.

hope this helps
