I'm just wondering if it is possible to configure GameEx to exit emulators when i press a certain sequence of buttons on my gamepad? My initial searches on the forums aren't returning any results, maybe i'm searching for the wrong thing. I have a logitech Dual Action USB gamepad that i'm using with my HTPC.

Thanks

When you setup a Emu you need to select an Advanced Config: this is on the second page of the Emu setup.

Check out "C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS\Project 64 V2.ini" for a good example of enabling gamepad exit...with the combination of D-pad upper-left + Button4 + Button5 + Button6 all being pressed at the same time in order to exit the Emu.

Yeah if you want to...or you could simply reuse that one and simply give it a generic name. Unless there are special needs for a given Emu..that one generally works fine for most if not all.

good call :)

Thanks again!

I'm just wondering if there is a good way to figure out exactly what GameEx thinks button 1-10 are on my gamepad? as mentioned before i have (2) Logitech Dual action usb gamepads. The logitech app in control panel>Game controllers just illuminates the button that is being pressed and doesn't give a number. The buttons are numbered on the controller but do not corespond to what i would map in the .ini file. i.e gamepad button #4 = button #1 in the .ini file.

Also if i'm using trial and error in an emu to figure out what button is what, is it going to matter what gamepad i use?

EDIT: ok so i have my mappings figured out, just wondering if this combination of buttons has to be pressed in unison or if it can be sequential?

This is an old post but i'll reply anyway...

What I did is setup each emulator to quit by pressing the left analog stick (known as L3 in some places). I chose this because I wouldn't use it for any gameplay purposes, and also it would be hard to press accidently. Here how I did it for my emus:

MAME - redefine 'UI Cancel'

ZSNES - redefine EXIT in the misc keys menu

Project64 - configure XPadder to map the key combo ALT+F4 to the L3 button.

Gens32 - the pj64 workaround works for this too.

Hope this helps.
