transfering GEx to another PC

i have bought a key some months ago and installed GameEx on my working PC.

now my Cab will be ready in a few workingdays and so i have to transfer Game Ex to the PC inside the Cab.

How can I do this?

I believe you can just copy the directory over, however, you may have to run the reg key Tom sent you on the new machine.

You might also verify your paths as you may have a different setup on the cab.

yes i can of course copy the reg file to the new computer, but the problem is:

when i get online with this PC Game Ex will connect to check if the key is allready in use and will stop working.

i am not sure if this is right but i fear it is this way...

so i have to unregister my working PC and register the Cab PC - but i dont know how???

I doubt that is the case. Just install the latest version, copy the directory, and install the registry file provided by Tom.

that would mean, that i can buy Game Ex ONE time and use it on every Computer i want, even give the reg to a friend, who gives it to his friend and so on...

dunno mate. i dont think you should do that. I was just stating how I felt moving the key from a test box to would be done.

I've got a registered version on my laptop which I am testing everything on, then going to tranfer everything to my cabinet and format the laptop drive.

Me also, but I anticipated this and donated $40 instead of $25. I feel that you should be sure to pay for each computer you use this on, but there may or may not be a special exception for someone who's merely using one to test and the other to play. Not sure how Tom feels about this...

Umm just my 2 cents nothing more or less. I use my reg file for all my mamecabs (3). and my laptop. I feel like if you purchase software you shouldn't be limited to installing to one PC if YOU own more than one PC. However I do not in any way condone passing reg keys to any1 else friends etc. they can come up with the $$ to reg the software it's not like forking up cash for something like say Windows Vista. Tom & company worked real hard on this so give him a break & respect he deserves. Once again just my 2 cents.

so can you just copy the whole directory over to the new pc? (obviously you have to correct the emulator paths) i'm going to be doing this soon as well.

yes, i think you CAN copy the reg to as many PCs as you want and everything will work out...

... AS LONG as you dont go online with those cabs and laptops etc. i did not test this but it is interessting for me: ARE you online with your Cabs? For updating GameEx or Mame or such?
