Newbie category question

Hello all, I'm on the cusp of purchase here but before I do, I'm basically trying to figure out if I can remove all categories (by year, by type etc) so that when I launch gameex it goes straight to an a-z list of mame games, a kind of idiot proof party mode. Any ideas would be mucho appreciated!

Hey Super,

Well this is one question I feel (at least) semi capable of answering. Much like you - the high point of my PC and indeed MAME experience is likely having the ability to post in this forum!

Having said that - GameEx IS effectively idiot proof! Without having ever tried, I will defer to my colleagues about whether you can just have a "A-Z" setup of games. I certainly know the default settings come with an "All Games" option which effectively shows ALL games A-Z.

My advice would be to give the categorys a go........when you have 3500+ games - breaking them up a little really DOES help!

Good luck with it and feel confident if you do purchase you wont be disappointed.

PS: The other advantage you have as a novice is the folk here - they will always help you out!

Hey man thanks for the reply, I dont runn all 3500+ games, about 300 at the moment because lets be honest, there is a great deal of shite out there. Mostly mk2 sf2, metal sulg, nba jam, all beer and gambling kinda games

If anyone does know how to remove those categories so i could try it please let me know ta!

Hi supergojira

In advanced configuration go to "enable/disable features" tab, then set "show start page first" to no, then every time you start GameEx it will start on the last on the last list used.

You can also disable most of the other list under the "advanced MAME settings" tab
