  1. Hey Guys, I just wanted to let you know I have been called overseas for work and wont return till the weekend. Once back - will follow up on the resolution matter and any other suggestions.
  2. Draco, 1. No....no joy as yet with the (original) issue of the system not automatically updating. As mentioned Im currently running version 8.09 whilst I try and sort out 12.54, Was hoping once I got 12.54 operational that might resolved the update issue. 2.Yep thats the version I updated too. 3. Mate to the best of my knowledge the PC is running just a standard version of XP. 4.I assume your referring to the PC resolution which is 800x600 and not the (gameex resolution setting right? - which is the same in config).........I'm actually currently away but will check it on my return. Thanks again for your help.
  3. Hi Adultery, DirectX version - 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904. Adultery below is the DxDiag report if relevant:
  4. Hey Adultery, Firstly many thanks for your response and any future assistance your able to provide. Below as requested the full error log. I seemingly are using a NVidia GeForce4 MX 440-SE video card. I googled and found / installed (what I think) was the latest driver but no joy (The error log is post that). Appreciate any further input you might have. Cheers
  5. Hi Tom / Guys, First and foremost - my apologies in advance if I have done this incorrectly. Background information - I have absolutely BASIC computer (& GameEx) knowledge. I purchased GameEx originally a few years back - managed to get it all set up to my liking and then as "live" tended to occupy my time, haven't played it for some time (I last had Version 8.09). My one memory / issue I had back at this time was that for whatever reason I didn't recieve automatic updates and / or these wouldn't install properly. Anyway fast forwarding to the future I decided it would be nice to see what new features have been added so I recently decided to purchase version 12.54 and see what was new (I know I dont think I technically needed to do this but was happy to pay the $ to "start a fresh"). Unfortunately I have been unable to get 12.54 up and running (Error message below) and have had to resort to just reloading up 8.09 which still works fine. I was hoping someone might be able to look at the below and possibly point me in the right direction. Cheers and thanks in advance guys, Stuart. 14:51:37.3 2/11/2011: Retrieving resolution setting 14:51:37.3 2/11/2011: Using General Font: Trebuchet MS 14:51:37.3 2/11/2011: Using Title Font: Trebuchet MS 14:51:37.5 2/11/2011: Initialising Direct3D 14:51:37.7 2/11/2011: Applying GameEx is Loading Image 14:51:37.7 2/11/2011: Setting Resolution to 800x600 32 bit color 14:51:37.7 2/11/2011: Creating Surfaces 14:51:37.8 2/11/2011: Applying GameEx is Loading Image 14:51:37.8 2/11/2011: Setting Resolution to 800x600 32 bit color 14:51:37.8 2/11/2011: Creating Surfaces 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: --**-- 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: Error: Error in the application. 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at Microsoft.DirectX.Direct3D.Device..ctor(Int32 adapter, DeviceType deviceType, Control renderWindow, CreateFlags behaviorFlags, PresentParameters[] presentationParameters) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at o.a(Form A_0, Int32 A_1, Int32 A_2, Boolean A_3, Boolean A_4, Boolean A_5, Boolean A_6) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at o..ctor(Form A_0, Int32 A_1, Int32 A_2, Boolean A_3, Boolean A_4, Boolean A_5, Boolean A_6) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at ag.a(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2, Boolean A_3, Int32 A_4) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at ag.a(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2, Boolean A_3, Int32 A_4) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at ag.b(Boolean A_0, Boolean A_1, Boolean A_2) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at ag.a(Boolean A_0, String A_1, Boolean A_2) 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: at ag..ctor() 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: Closing database connection 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: Disposing Plugins 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: GameEx is exiting with errors 14:51:37.9 2/11/2011: Deleting search cache 14:51:38.9 2/11/2011: ERRORS DETECTED: EXITING 14:51:39.0 2/11/2011: Bye
  6. Cheers Tom - that totally fixed that issue. Heres to hoping the other one is equally simple.
  7. Hey Guys, Total newbie (and relative computer novice) here so apologise if this has been asked and answered previously. Have GameEx up and running well. Using just a standard USB gamepad control and was pleased when simply plugging it in allowed me to navigate the gameEx menu and play the games without any great issues. (I still cant leave / escape a game without hitting the ESC keyboard button but beyond that minor annoyance - otherwise all good). I have however added two programs to my "More Games & Programs" tab - Ultrastar Deluxe and a preferred Digital Jukebox version. These were initally controlled just via the keyboard however having read a little on here about xpadder I decided to give it a go. Low and behold I had some success (sort of). Effectively now I have mapped the keys and added the preferred joystick configuration to the respective Ultrastar and Jukebox folders and when I open these directly from there - they can be controlled perfectly via the xpadder configured controller. Unfortunately however when I access these programs via GameEx and the "More Games & Programs" tab I have no joy and the gamepad doesn't work at all. If anyone has any suggestions how I could get my gamepad to work in these programs when accessed via GameEx it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers guys. S
  8. Hey Guys, Many thanks for your suggestions. Will follow up on the Firewall / windowed suggestions and feedback. If these fail - would I be right in saying simply installing a new version will preserve all my current settings / etc?
  9. G'day Guys / Tom, Novice Registered user of GameEx who is having a few problems with my Automatic Update feature. I have GameEx running on two PC's (My desktop / test machine) and also on my cab. I recently networked up my Cab to make it internet enabled and although I seemingly whenever I turn on my desktop / test centre GameEx recieve notifications about available updates, this never seemingly occurs on my arcade machine. On both machines I have the "Ask me if I want the update" enabled in the Enable / Disable config menu. Wondering if anyone would have any ideas on something else I could check to get the auto updates running on my cab machine? Cheers Guys.
  10. Hey Super, Well this is one question I feel (at least) semi capable of answering. Much like you - the high point of my PC and indeed MAME experience is likely having the ability to post in this forum! Having said that - GameEx IS effectively idiot proof! Without having ever tried, I will defer to my colleagues about whether you can just have a "A-Z" setup of games. I certainly know the default settings come with an "All Games" option which effectively shows ALL games A-Z. My advice would be to give the categorys a go........when you have 3500+ games - breaking them up a little really DOES help! Good luck with it and feel confident if you do purchase you wont be disappointed. Cheers Stuart PS: The other advantage you have as a novice is the folk here - they will always help you out!
  11. Hey Emph, Got know - Im a novice in every possible way with Gameex other than to realise just how much of a superb program it is. With that said I must admit I do find the jukebox program I use slightly better for my needs and the Karaoke via Ultrastar suits my kids. What I do enjoy however is Gameex's ability to incorporate and manage all these into one nice neat package!
  12. Hey All, Relatively new to the board (and I hope this is cool) but I was wondering what other programs you all use on your arcade cabs with Gameex? Whilst my cabinet is still in its relative infancy and Im still dabbling with various game sets / emulators / etc I have stumbled upon a few relatively cool programs that look like there going to work in with Gameex sensationally and as such thought I would share them. Karaoke - I use a free programe known as Ultrastar (www.ultrastarstuff.com) which not only bares an uncanny resemblance to another well known karaoke program, but is a breeze to set up and adjust. I use Digital Jukebox 1.2.5 as my Jukebox centre which managers my 10 or so thousand audio files well. I'm also in the process of installing a stepmania program for my kids which also looks pretty kick a$$ good. Would be interested in hearing what you guys are also running or would recommend. Cheers
  13. G'day LP, Many thanks for this. Havent had alot of time with other committments to progress much further but DO have Cobra Command and Astron Belt up and running beatuifully!! Had a bit of a go and experienced an error of some description with Badlands hence my question about whether it was a working game. Will continue to push forward. Again many thanks for all your help. Stuart
  14. Hey LP Early days but I got my first one up and working on Gamex thanks SOLELY to your assistance!!!! Cant thank you enough mate - 5 minutes here probably saved me weeks of reading limited and conflicted stuff on other sites!!!! I swear when I eventually get my head around this stuff Im going to post a "Config for Dummies" section for all the....."less skilled" members such as myself! LP wondering if I could pick your brain on one more question? I know some of the Laserdisc games have known issues. Was wondering if you could let me know (if your aware) which ones do and dont work. Again my thanks mate!
  15. Thanks LP - this is exactly what I was looking for!!!! Will give it a go later and post back success / failure
  16. Hey LP, Thanks for your post. Pretty sure I have daphne turned on in gameex (Have "Emulated Games" as a title which when selected takes you to "Laserdisc" and then onto some game names. Also have got the games enabled (Was the one gameex feature I was confident about!). I think my issue may indeed be framefile related. Can you elaborate / provide an example on "Make sure your framefile is setup in gameex"? Stu
  17. Hey Guys, After much trial and error (these things really DONT come easy for me!!) I have managed to pretty much work Daphne out and are able to get some laserdisc games up and running OUTSIDE of gameex. I was wondering if one of you much smarter gentleman (or ladies) than I might be able to post a log of HOW Laserdisc games should be configured in gameex. Many thanks for any assistance in advance. Cheers
  18. G'day Tom / Team, Also like Adultery experiencing a few problems with a recent update (Mine actually seemed to kick in around ??? 6.62 (Although you guys are producing so many its hard to tell!!!). Effectively I have a few different things to Adultery: Effectively I load up fine but are unable to use my back button, seemingly ALL my games have been moved into favorites and NONE of my "Category tab"s are selectable (For example if I select "Multimedia" (Is fine); "Jukebox" (Is fine) but trying to sort by Album / Title / Artist / etc doesnt work (Although I do seemingly get the cool new graphic effect. I'm relatively new to GameEx so certainly CANT rule out that I have done something myself although I havent really made any great changes of late pre these errors commencing. I have attached a copy of my error log below. Many thanks in advance for any assistance you guys can provide. Cheers Stuart Adultery - my apologies for "hijacking" your thread. I just thought it might be easier for Tom / The Team if a ? similar problem with updates were placed together. 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: GameEx: Version 6.65: Starting Log 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Operating System Name: Windows XP 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: .net Framework 1.1 Installed 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Running Randomize() 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Running Misc startup tasks 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Setting Menu types 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Opening Configuration File 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Getting Configuration Values 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Using Theme: Default - MCE Glossy 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - MCE Glossy 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Launching HideOS.exe 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Hiding Taskbar 15:43:25.1 8/26/2006: Is Media Center running? 19. G'day Fellas, Many thanks for the feedback! All does seem very simple now its been explained! Will implement all your advice! Again my humblest thanks. Cheers Stuart
  20. G'day Guys / Tom, My apologies for asking about a subject which Im sure is quite simple, but I'm really struggling to work out the process for utilising customised (or in other words - "my own" artwork by jukebox for the album art. I ??? think as of GameEx 6.01 (May 7th) this was possible by ?? adding a folder.jpg and / or a album.jpg file but for the life of me have no idea how?? Im aware that seemingly Jukebox uses Program Files\GameEx\MEDIA\ALBUMS to store album artwork which it auto downloads from ? amazon. I was hoping if anyone has a spare moment they might be able to just confirm you can use customised artwork and provide some simple steps for how to do. Cheers
