Hi Folks. I'm having trouble getting GridWars 2 to work with GameEX. It works fine outside GameEX and launches/plays fine in GameEX but when i exit it on return

to GameEX the screen is scrambled. Initially i thought the problem was caused because when you press 'escape' in GridWars2 it brings you to an option screen whereby you can change settings/quit/continue and i had 'Map Keys' set to 'Yes' for the emulator setup which meant i didn't get to see the option screen and GameEX

attempted to terminate the app/game. When i set 'Map Keys' to 'No' although i got to the option screen to terminate GridWars 2 i still got the same result on exiting the game. Any ideas people ? It looks like a game i can't do without ! :( Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

iano.

Could be that GridWars isn't resetting the resolution correctly on exit. Try to see if you can get GridWars to run at the same resolution and frequency of GameEx.

I always try to exit the game/program gracefully since most programs will do some clean up and saving when exited correctly, and may not when forced to close by the parent process.

Hi Will. Thanks for the reply. I have my xp desktop at 640x480 which is what GameEX is using and i have GridWars 2 window x,y and playfield x,y also set to 640x480. When i exit GridWars 2 back to GameEX my pc emulator page appears tiled horizontally 4 times in the one screen. Also there are lines going thru the screen horizontally scrambling the picture. I will double check GameEX's display settings but i know my ArcadeVGA desktop resolution is set at 640x480 and GameEX fills the screen nicely. Does GridWars 2 exit fine to GameEX for you ? Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

iano.

I have Grid Wars2 setup on my gameex cabinet, and it seems to be working just fine. I also have mapkeys set you 'yes'.

So it is possible.

As for what could be causing problems... is this set up as an external application? That's how I did it I think.

Hi. Thanks for the reply ! Actually, i have it setup as an emulator. It launches fine and plays fine but like i said GameEX 'freezes' upon exit. I never thought of setting

it up as an external app. I try this out tomorrow night - it just seems too good to pass up !

Thanks for your help !

Don't forget to check the frequency too. 640x480 at 60Hz is not the same thing as 640x480 at 120Hz. Even if the dimensions are the same it could still be changing modes. That could have something to do with it. I don't know why, but it could. My guess though is GridWars isn't that fun at 640x480. Seems a little small.

Hey, could you help me with a problem with Grid Wars without GameEX? It seems that every time I lauch it, it starts up, but when I try to run the game or go to the Video settings, it crashes. Do you guy know what I should do?

P.S. My computer's resolution is 1024x768, and I run Windows XP.

I think there is an ini/config file in the Gridwars54 directory that you can edit (in notepad) manually without running the game. You can setup your resolution/playfield there and give it another go.
