Trying to keep this short and to the point.

This does use some of Tom's Model2 loader code in it.

This allows easy per game controller setup

This allows easy per game render setup

Moved to Configuration thread please refer to here.

I'm lost here.

I'm trying to set this up with GameEx and launch it under the MAME menu for Advanced MAME Settings. I am unable to do this?

Posted

Its standalone...set it up like any other Emu thats not a part of the Mame setup.

This is why it has an Import.ini :)

I'll work on getting a build that blends with how GameEx normally does things in a while.

Heh right now on a mission to get those KN1 chds working. :)

Can you get GameEx to send the ROM path and ROM file into the wrapper? Or am I confusing my logic here? :)

.: EDIT :. I have loaded it as a standalone emulator for now, but a fix to this issue would be awesomeness. :D

It works AWESOME! Thanks a heap Nologic!

This is so great!

Thanks a million!

Your welcome, but its still rough around the edges.

Some bindings I've noticed for a default gamepad still need some tweaking...for my taste any ways.

Still have to get KN1 CHD's working.

And probably a few other odds and ends. :)

Oh mainly getting Cab control panel bindings setup...be a lot sweeter if the big boys can also have fun with this. :)

By the by...

I still can't get my Tekken titles to launch. :(

I used to be able to launch them and not move... Now I can't get them to launch at all.

I get a "ZiNc.exe - Memory can not be 'read" yadda yadda yadda" window.

Please read the s11player.dll.txt in the ReadMe folder or use the older s11player.dll thats in the Archive folder

Do a search through your mame roms folder for "tekken" open up the zipped rom and extract a file called "pr1data.8k" to the root of C:\ then try the Tekken games again. :)

My fault. ;)

Everything's peachy.

Great work Nologic are you using the updated s11player_Mar3 as well? I read that post from R Belont glad to see progress in Zinc always :)

Mine says its march 4th, 2006...I had to hunt all over the web just to find this...tho I probably could have posted asking for it. :)

Well this is the first time I've ever really had any luck with it...tho this is also the first time I've really put effort into it as well. ;)

Ideally once I get done with this...zinc should be fairly simple to get up and running...with any FE.

* Update*

Okay this build is no longer built to be standalone...I'll likely add that back later.

That said backup then delete your current zinc setup...I renamed and moved stuff around to much to even try to explain it. ;)

This is good news and bad news...the good is that you can now fire up the KN1 CHDs and the bad...you can't play them as of yet. :(

I need to search the forum\web more to figure out why I'm not getting joy2key to load the cfg files the way I want. Once thats done...we're more or less in the clear. :)

>> Minor correction...you can play them...but only with the default keyboard binds.

* File Removed and Hosted else where *

How are you loading Zinc currently thru a FE or MAME? Have not used a loader so is this something ill need to have GameEx pointing to? Im lost hehe

Posted

Well you don't need an FE...but its nicer. :)

You could right now create a bat file with some thing like so in it.

ZiNc_Loader.exe 10

And it'll fire right up.

Or if you had Run Program shell extenion from Synesis installed you could simply right click on the loader and punch in a number and the game that assigned to that number with launch.

Other wise for now I'd suggest downloading and trying out GameEx...under Mame Advanced there is a few entrys that relate to getting Zinc setup...basically follow the loose instructions I have listed at the first update in this thread.

I'll do up a proper readme to all this later after every thing settles down.

Since it is a beta...its not suggested for those with short tempers. ;)

Tried the standalone for Wedding Rhapsody and Powerful baseball and got an error... did I miss another readme?

.:EDIT:. Never mind. I got it running now. :)

Seems to be taking a long time to load... but I'm assuming this is the CHD. I'm trying it out now. :)

.:EDIT #2:.

I can get Powerful Baseball to launch properly, but then it goes to a black screen. If I kill Zinc_Launcher.exe in the task manager, it falls back to GameEx. After exiting GameEx, I find ZiNc running in the background... which leads me to believe that the game is running but I can't see it. Not sure...

Try changing the render used by Zinc...options are:

ZiNc_D3D.cfg

ZiNc_GL.cfg

ZiNc_GL2.cfg

ZiNc_Glide.cfg

ZiNc_Soft.cfg

This can be set in the Settings.ini in the Config\ folder, under the GFX entry for the game.

You're better off killing the emu than the loader...the loader will notice the emu is shut down and will then its self close of its own accord. Maybe I'll add back in a kill key to the loader.

FileSend is down or something. I can't get to the download. :(

Okay attached the file to the head of the thread...starting to get short on personal storage on the forum...so trying to keep things off of it. ;)

Here's the diagnosis...

I got hyper athlete to run at full speed with no problems (other than lack of sound which I'm okay with). However, I still can't get Powerful Baseball or Wedding Rhapsody to play at all with either renderer. Maybe 5 minutes isn't long enough to decompress the CHD? I can't say. But Hyper Athlete has a CHD too and I can run that like nothin.

What do ya think?

Well I'm loading it on my system fairly decently...however thats my system...if its taking any thing past 45 seconds to load...its not a game to be playing with.

Really if the loader gets the game to load then its done its job...hehe making some thing playable is beyond the scope of the application. ;)

There is suppose to be a new zinc nearing release...maybe when thats released it'll solve the issue.

Right now I'm trying to pass --list-games to zinc through the loader and return it to GameEx as when I did the more detailed installation at the head of the thread...I forgot to personally switch the loader out and put zinc back in the commandline prior to generating a new list....so I nuked my listing. ;)

While not some thing all that likely to happen in the future...getting that in place would lessen the hoops people have to jump through to use it with Mame.

So you can't just encase a line of code that makes your wrapper force a ZiNc game list? That was gonna be my next question...
