[RESOLVED] GameEx Blocked By AV

Hi,

 

For some reason my AV keeps detecting GameEx as ransom ware. I tried reinstalling a few times and I'm still getting the same message.

it is a false positive unless your system is otherwise infected. What is the anti virus software? If it is good software you should be able to add an exception.

if some software company wants to flag it not sure what I can do. I can potentially contact them.

Here is the virus total result for GameEx.exe in the latest version. It was released a day or so ago.

it says no vendors flagged it so your system maybe infected. You did not give me much to go on. its more of a general pc support question.

One vendor  picked up something in GameEx.dll but all others clean,.

I'm using Malwarebytes. I tried putting an exception in and it still flagged it. I'm going to try disabling it.

Ok fixed I had to exclude gameex.exe as a file instead of an application.

Malwarebytes is overzealous yet does not regularly update security certificates, resulting in the errors you encountered. If you upload the file to Virus Total you can see if a file has been reported - 

As Tom noted in the recent news, the security certificates were recently updated for another 3 years, so it is possible that Malwarebytes did not "get the memo."
