In MAME - Snap Path vs. Database Snap Path

I know this is a basic question but the answer is eluding me!

In the MAME setup screen, what is the difference between the "Snap Path" vs. "Database Snap Path"?

I searched on the forum but couldn't seem to find an answer.

If you click on the ? at the end of the entry within the Setup Wizard it will define it further.

I still don't get what is supposed to go in this folder.

"Location of category, year and manufacturer videos or images."

Probably nothing that you will want to play with for now, but allows for image viewing customizations for the noted categories for your games. I don't utilize them myself so can't speak much more about them.

"Snap Path" is where MAME saves or loads in-game screenshots (snaps), while "Database Snap Path" is used by frontends to display preview images from a game database, not taken directly from MAME.
