[RESOLVED] GameEx Arcade Edition Migration Guide

Hi,

I'm currently running GameEx Arcade Edition 18.87. If I update to the latest version do my settings automatically move over or do I have to manually move them?

All settings should move over to the latest. I do recommend that, since the latest version is more than just  versions removed from 18.87, that you backup your configuration files.

I was able to get it to work. I did have to copy the config files from the stand alone version of GameEx Arcade over to the C:\GameEx\CONFIG_ARCADE_EDITION. Also I was not given the option to install the MAME Bezel project. I had to copy those files over also, but I think I should be all set. I will do some testing next couple of days. Thank you!

For some reason the video themes stopped showing, All the files are there and the paths are correct,

Did you move your MAME theme and media from the original \GameEx Arcade Edition\themes folder to \gameex\themes ?

My understanding is that upon update or install of the latest GameEx installer it should recognize existing separate installs (from 18.87 prior) and update accordingly instead of manually forcing the move of any configuration files or media. I will need @Tom Speirsconfirmation and clarification of my understanding/misunderstanding.

Correct I moved the MAME theme and media from the original path to the new \themes folder. I ran the installer again and everything is working again, but when I run the update game list for MAME I get a games not found error. All the other consoles are working correctly and displaying games.

there was a change in the latest version, i removed checks for legacy versions of \data\gamelist.txt. This was to improve performance on the upcoming Android version. Please try deleting that file. Otherwise looks like your mame.exe is bad and not producing the required xml.

I fixed it. I had MAME setup for admin access on windows and for some reason that was causing an issue. I'm able to scan for my MAME roms now. Thank you for all the help.
