I have just started using Pinball X 6.20. Went through the setup routine and when starting Pinball X, It hangs on the startup or title screen and never continue to tables menu. The only way out is use task manager.

I also use Pinball X 3.29, used setup routine and loads the table menu. It works! Would like to use the newer version...

Here are my attached files for Pinball X 6.20.

Thanks...

Looks like the database took 0ms to load..

13:05:03.79 11/21/2024: Loading Database: Visual Pinball
13:05:03.80 11/21/2024: Initial load gamelist took: 0ms

That's pretty quick!

Have you added any tables to the Visual Pinball system, maybe the screen hangs with no table menu because there are no tables in the system to display?

It looks like you also have a VPX system too which isn't mentioned in the log, so there's also a chance that database is corrupt.

Please attach your ...PinballX\Database\Visual Pinball\Visual Pinball.xml and ...PinballX\Databases\VPX\VPX.xml database files too.

Not sure if that is on the same pc or not. If it is and you have installed V6.20 to a new location then the database files for 6.20 will not be populated. To update you should install over the top of the current installation (database and media will not be overwritten - but you can copy off the files first as a backup if you're not feeling confident)

I have installed the new version of Pinball X 6.20 into the older version and still got the same result of being stuck on title screen. That is why I have installed the two versions into seperate folders. Older version works, but not the newer vesion.

I have installed three tables for Visual Pinball using the Game Manager. Still get the same result. Here is the database file for Pinball X 6.20.

Based upon the thought that there may be a conflict due to the two versions installed, does anyone think that uninstalling both versions, restart, and installing the latest version would be a possible solution?

When I first used Pinball X 6.20, I have uninstalled, restarted computer, reinstalled Pinball X, restarted computer again, and still got the same result of being stuck on the title screen. Did this several times. My older version of Pinball X 3.29 was never installed during this process.

Thanks for the quick reply...

Is it possible to get a previous stable version of Pinball X prior to version 6.20. I can try to work from there and then update.

On the download page for PinballX you can select previous by clicking 'See changelog'

There's been a lot of changes between V3.29 & V6.20 - i think back in the days of 3.29 PinballX would have been using .net framework and was 32bit only. Your V6.20 version is now using the default .net core and is 64bit.

You could try changing the compatibility mode of the V6.20 PinballX installer to Windows Vista and that would then allow you to install the framework version as 32 or 64bit and try that (just in case you have a .net core issue somewhere).  Post new copies of log and ini files if you do do that.

Nice idea but probably not. I have two versions installed side by side quite often while testing stuff.
