hello everyone and I wanted to thank all the people who allow us to take full advantage of our pincab.
Since the last update of pinball FX (May 2024) under epic games, I have encountered problems launching pinball FX from pinballx and I cannot find the solution on my own.
I tested under Steam and no problem except that I don't have any tables under Steam but all under Epic Games and I don't want to buy the tables under Steam (even though it seems faster) .
If you have an idea to submit to me, thank you in advance.

I do not use the Epic version of the software, but use the Steam version.

Could you please provide more details about the issue you are encountering? The description "encounter problems" is too vague to provide any meaningful assistance.

Was Epic able to launch the table directly, or are you still using the launcher ?

Please provide the pinballx log.txt file that is created when the issue occurs, as well as your settings file. This information would be greatly appreciated in order to better understand and resolve the problem.

hi,

if I enter the command:
ex: -table 177 -gamemode classic
directly in pinball fx (epic games) it works.
on the other hand I can't launch from pinballx, here is my pbx file (image) certainly a bad configuration.
I have the impression that it launches epic games but then does not fx to execute the table.

At the beginning of my memory, I remember that you had to use an url to launch fx directly but I don't remember.

I only have this for the moment as a photo, I will see within the week if I can recover the log file.

sincerely

It appears that the previous images may have been altered, as certain fonts seem to be different.

In the path, there is a colon (:) before "epic games". That's definitely not correct

As stated in the documentation, please open a command prompt, paste the '<path>\<executable> <parameters>', and if that launches successfully, then everything is in order.

If it does not work, kindly provide your log.txt and pinballx.ini files (after reproducing the issue).

You mentioned that the issue occurred after the update. This is unusual, as the update should not have affected the launch process from PinballX or altered the start parameters.

@nicofab18 Are you playing games with me? :D

You altered the image again (the colon is removed and you put more behind), but it still appears to be photoshopped.
Instead of modifying the image, could you please answer my question?

@joyrider3774 yiu have epic pinball fx. Is the direct launch working and same parameters as for steam ? I can't believe that the parameters like -appid is the same as steam

Good morning
Here are 2 files of my FX pinball settings on Epic Games that I just tested:
-the 1st (image1) launches Epic Games but does not launch Pinball FX.
-The 2nd (image2) launches Pinball FX directly but with an unknown profile despite the discovery of my tables (id unknown).
and my log file.

The -applaunch parameter is the parameters of Steam not of EPIC.

As Stated in the pinballx documentation, pinballx will not magicly fix an issue or launch a table. You need to have it working on the command prompt (as I mentioned in previous post)

I searched on the Zen site, and the parameters for -table and -gamemode should work, bit the parameter for epic you need to find from epic

See https://www.pinballfx.com/?page_id=7754

I think you are with pic 1 on the correct way, but need replace -applaunch (and number) for something that epic will do.

I thought that the shortcut on the desktop that is created by epic contains the correct parameters to launch the game from the epiclauncher

I recreated the desktop shortcut that I lost following an update.
by putting the shortcut link in the "executable" parameter I manage to launch fx with my profile :) but the pincab mode does not remain activated (lamentable)
yes, I noticed that applaunch was not necessary for epic games.
I think that pinball mode is not yet active for this version, I will try to create a script to activate it before playing.

only way i have ever gotten pinball FX from epic to work with epic services activated (so you are online and can submit scores to leaderboards) and do table launch is by using legendary but if your cabinet is always offline just link to epic's version exe directly as thats much easier but if you want to be online and have online score submission try this :

Basically you can use legendary https://github.com/derrod/legendary to do this.

First you download legendary.exe from release somewhere and run a cmd prompt.

Then you normally do legendary auth to authorize yourself with epic games,
once authorized you normally do legenday list to find the pinball FX game's appname but i know it's 56a31432931740cdb0112d237d7d65aa

so what i did then is import my current Epic's pinball FX install location ("i:\Games\Epic Games\PinballFX")  using
legendary import 56a31432931740cdb0112d237d7d65aa "i:\Games\Epic Games\PinballFX"
it should say it imported the game fine

Once that is done you can launch the epic version using legendary using following command to launch wild west rampage table in classic mode
legendary launch 56a31432931740cdb0112d237d7d65aa -Table 75 -GameMode Classic
and basically thats the command you use in your frontend as well.

Or you could also check which command legendary uses to make this work by running
legendary launch 56a31432931740cdb0112d237d7d65aa --dry-run -Table 75 -GameMode Classic
and it will show you the parameters it passes to pinballfx.exe intermediatary launcher (for unreal engine games), suffice to say never share that commandline with anyone as it will contain login credentials
you only need to do the import and auth once (unless you get logged out or so) and then you can always do the 3rd launch command and use that in your frontends

in theory once you did the authorization and import of the game you can then use always the last command to make it work from within pinballx but i never bothered with that. Steam version is way easier to use and i switched from epic to steam at the time early access ended
