Hi people.

I'm changing my cabinet from old ArcadeOS to Gameex (nice piece of software).

The problem I have is when I try to start a Project 64 rom. If I click the rom with the mouse, everything works OK, but when I hit the "select" key to start the rom nothing happends (rom names move to the right and then come back to their initial position). Even with debug mode activated, no DOS windows appears (seems lime Gameex doesn't even try to start the ROM).

Everything works OK with MAME (starting roms using keyboard or mouse).

Tried to activate/deactivate directInput , change the "select" key ..etc...

I've been looking for the solution in this forum, but couldn't find any... I've installed GameEx in two different machines with the same behaviour.

Any suggestion ?

Thanks in advance.

Also, depending on the version make sure your command line arguments are correct.

The last official PJ64 release needs this command line set up in GameEx:

Project64.exe [ROMPath]\[RomFile]

However if you are using the new WIP that you have to 'pay' for, it should look like this:

Project64.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

Hope that helps! :)

Yeah but he said when he clicks with the mouse in GameEx it works, but not when he "selects" the game. That's just plain weird. In your GameEx directory, find your log file and paste it for us. This sure sounds like a GameEx issue, so that will help. Also, try turning off the "map keys" option in the N64 settings in the GameEx config. You could be getting a double hit that is returning you to the menu. Try those two things to get the ball rolling.

Hi people. Back again (3 days out).

I will try to send you a Log (now I'm working), but I remember there was nothing written in the log (like nothing happends) when I "select" a game. I will try to turn off map keys too. Will report tomorrow.

Thank you all.

Another Possible Solution:

In your Gameex Project 64 folder: Show Desktop to YES

Somewhere else in Gameex, you need to check HIDE DESKTOP and ICONS.

Hello again.

Here you have the log. I started Super Mario 64 using the mouse (it worked fine) and then tried to start it using the "select" key 5 times (nothing in the log...). Roms list just moved right and then left again. The "select" sample sounds...

I have the complete gamex.ini file too, but it's 57 K size, and I thing it's too much to post it here.

As Lurker suggested, I will try to change show desktop settings...

Can any of you run N64 games using keyboard ? I tried it using another PC with the same result...

Have you tried to reinstall GameEx maybe? Reinstalling over your current installation is perfectly fine and will not hurt any of your settings, but it can fix corrupted program files. Try it if you haven't cause this sure is WEIRD.

this is going to sound weird, but I have the same problem on 7.09 and this fixed it. If you have the database set on the last screen of the setup for pj64 remove it. Set the database file to blank. I actually experienced the problem with a few emulators and this was the common denominator. After I set the database to blank everything is working fine again.

YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!

That solved the problem! Everything works fine now . There is a extrange connection between Database and keyboard input. Seems like a little bug.

Thank you all for your support.

Best regards.
