[RESOLVED] Anyway to turn the display off on the pindmd 3?

I know this really does not have much to do with PinballX, but hoping someone might be able to help.  I'm trying to find a script that will turn off my dmd display for a pindmd 3.  It will still have power going to it, but I want to see a black screen vs what it shows on a reboot.

So, in other words, stop the display (sleep?) but not totally power off the device so that it will wake when called but not show the default (which I have never seen BTW because I do not own one)?

@Draco1962  Yes.  It's kind of silly, but I power the DMD via the 5volt connector in my computer.  It's duel boot computer and I use one drive to boot into pinball and the other drive is encrypted for work/non pinball games.  The goal is so I don't have to see the dmd display on my pinball table unless I boot into that drive.

Manual switch? 😋 Not sure that it is possible create a script for that unless that is an actual state available for DMD.

Have you checked with the manufacturer to see what they support?

If a process is started (you'd have to look into Task Manager) when the controller is "on" it may be possible to batch or autohotkey scripts to stop on exit from PinballX and launch the process then launch PinballX, but my guess is that it would likely not work unless the device supports shutdown/power on.

Thanks for that!  I know PinballX will turn it black while a table loads.  I was just not sure how I could do something similar.  There is really no dmd process when I boot into that other drive or dmd driver/dll.  So the dmd only shows the text that comes on when you boot and rotates colors.  I was thinking I could add the dll for the dmd and some how use that to send a blank/black screen to it and then exit.

Not sure if there is a plugin that could at least run a video in between, even if it was a loop of a black display.

Its a bit early for me, and maybe not understand it, but if you want to get rid of the default text. You can initialize the Dmd with xdmd, flexdmd or dmdext (or any other program) and send an extra blank frame to it.

Didn't the dMd come with a command line tool to send media to it ?

EDIT :
Maybe this will help

Thanks Mike!  I went to the dmd3 site and found some files that did the trick.  I already had the app that lets you set the brightness/color shades.  They had a small exe available for download called pinDMDclear.exe that did just what I wanted.
