gpstevens
I recently returned to this awesome hobby and needed to do some updates to several of the key components I had installed on my 4-screen cab (PBX, VPX, BS2). After the updates, I'm encountering a problem with my setup. I use PBX for my front-end. While in game play, and if I get to a multi-ball mode, when I lose a ball during multi-ball mode, the PBX front-end activates again on top of my table while the game is still in action. Have any of you witnessed this before? If I exit out of PBX, the VPX table is still running and I can continue playing it. Very odd. I'm only seeing this when I enter a multi-ball mode and then lose one of the balls. That is what seems to trigger this situation. I have tried it with a few random VPX tables, and it seems to happen on all of them (I played Batman, then Family Guy). Could I have messed up one of my settings in the process of updating all the various components? I have attached the log file and .ini files in case they help. Mike_da_Spike
I never seen this issue. In the log file I only see that you played batman not Family guy. Strange part is that batman rom is found as 'pinball'. I see a pinballx error in the log, but dont see what it is causing. Can you post an extra log where you play other tables to compair? When you lose your ball during multiball, do you do something (bang the cabinet, or push multiple buttons at the same time??) EDIT : Can you post a screenshot of your Visual Pinball key settings as well ?
gpstevens
Ok, so I played a variety of tables over the past week or so and I'm still seeing this problem. I can't replicate it, but it does seem to happen at random times during play. Sometimes in multiball mode, other times just when a ball is lost, other times while the ball is in the middle of play. Very unusual. I have attached several different log files for different tables that exited back to PinballX. I have also included a screenshot of my VP keyboard settings. One thing to note, I also use the latest version of PinMHi Leaderboard, which also uses a few mapped keys to trigger challenges and display high scores, etc. I have mapped the left bracket and right bracket keys for these functions. I'm hoping you can help me out. log (after Poyeye Saves the World).txt log (after Bramstokers Dracula).txt log (after barbwire exit).txt log (after fishtales exit).txt
scutters
Interesting log files! A few things stand out; Error initializing flash engine - May be unrelated to the issue but worth ruling out, as log advises. 'In game' in log files - appears sometimes before the issue. This indicates the game was paused by PinballX, you didn't mention pausing the games so this may be another symptom? Launching Startup Program: PinballX_StartupApps.bat - What does this do, start button to key mapping software?. If so what are button mappings there. Initial load gamelist took: Xms - some logs show this multiple times (not just on PinballX start). Strange, seems unusual. Finding and matching artwork and videos - Seems quite slow (might just be due to pc spec and number of games loaded) Parameter is not valid - An actual error!, System.Drawing.Bitmap..ctor(Int32 width, Int32 height, PixelFormat format) etc. Hints at a media file issue. There may well be more than one issue with some red herrings floating around, but my gut feeling is it's media file related.. So, what i'd do, retesting after each; Check pc drive space, and for any critical errors in Event Viewer (could be a general pc issue) Remove any .swf (flash files) from media folders. Resolve the flash engine error. Please try deleting flash.ocx in the installation folder and then reininstall PinballX. If you have problems try Mikes guide Disable any button to key mapping software at startup or elsewhere, plug in a keyboard, and see if you still get problems with key input only (to narrow things down) Install another instance of PinballX to another directory. Add only a few games, don't add any media, use key input only, is that stable? If none of that helps then post new logs and ini files, and also confirm if you have any issues on none VPX systems. I noticed that too, but have some issues to reply with my tablet. Could this be caused by the DMD screen ? Not sure if those are really the correct width and Height. [DMD] Enabled=True monitor=3 x=50 y=23 width=1177 height=334 AutoPositionPinMAME=False Following is also unrelated, but noticed you had a NVRAMpath in your VisualPinball system NVRAMPath=C:\Visual Pinball\VPinMame\nvram I dond't have it, not sure if that was added recently by tom
