I am a little unclear (using google translate) as to what you're trying to do. Please attach your pinballx\log\log.txt and pinballx\config\pinballx.ini files as they help our understanding (as may diagrams or screen shots).

What i think you are trying to do is, using the image image above define screen areas as below on one screen?;

The colours indicting the areas they are used. I think you could do this by keeping the desktop wallpaper and in pinballx settings define the backglass area and offsets as the green area and the DMD area and offsets as the red area. They will appear on top of the wallpaper in pinballx and in visual pinball.

When tables load in visual pinball you can right click on the backglass and select to hide the backglass's own DMD grill.

For electro mechanical table that don't use a DMD you can keep the same setup and still show the speakers, but just add a logo or something to the wallpaper image (which would be covered by the DMD for table that use one). e.g.;

Sorry if i have misunderstood (just blame google!! :lol:)

I previously configured the program to start in full screen,

Ah, so PinballX is still set as a 2 screen setup (with no DMD, just a full screen backglass). It might be easier (for maintenance) to reconfigure it as 3 screen with different offsets for the DMD and backglass running on the same monitor - then you'd have no need to use irfanview to show the grill image with launch before and after scripts. Simple scripts though, nice solution! (but do you need a /fs on the first one to launch irfanview in fullscreen?)

Well, I didn't want to touch the pinball X configuration and I decided to do it this way because I'm thinking of making 3 visual pinball folders:
1- for the external dmd I will use the idea above
2- for the EM in this case I will change the configuration of the b2sserver to 1024*768 to use the full monitor in 4:3
3- For the pinvideos I have to go deeper but I will use part of the main idea (create 3 virtual monitors) using the 1024*576 configuration for the backglass and the rest for the dmd.

I directly configured the program to load the grid image in full screen
